The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Announces May Entertainment Performances

Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas announces
May ENTERTAINMENT performances

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas continues its line-up of touring artists at its casino floor hot-spots Book & Stage, Bond, and The Chandelier with artist residencies through May. All performances are open to the public.

Book & Stage
A polished, masculine and comfortable setting, Book & Stage is a daytime live sports viewing lounge and by evening becomes a music performance-centric venue with popular acts.

The following acts will be performing at Book & Stage:

Bushwalla
Self-proclaimed as the Original Gangster from Cleveland, Bushwalla represents the eclectic talents of Billy “Bushwalla” Galewood. A native of Cleveland, he started performing musical theater at the age of 9. For the next 10 years, he crafted his performing skills as a professional clown while on stage with the Cleveland Opera, Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival, and the Cleveland Ballet. In 1995, Galewood set out to New York City to study theater at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy. While in New York, he supported himself as a street performer incorporating such feats as juggling, magic, chair-balancing, and fire-breathing. Now after spending time in both Los Angeles and San Diego, Bushwalla is more than a one-man boy band. His sound is a unique blend of funk, rock, freestyle, acoustic hip-hop with a soul deeply rooted in authenticity and optimism. His writing talents came into being after notably co-writing Jason Mraz’s debut platinum album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come and sophomore release Mr. A-Z.
Tuesday, May 1 – Wednesday, May 2 from 10:00PM – 11:00PM and 12:00AM – 1:00AM

J*DaVeY
When hip-hop culture meets electronic sonic inventions and a funky soul spirit you get J*DaVeY. A multi-genre duo out of Los Angeles, CA, composed of singer/songwriter Jack Davey and producer/songwriter Brook D’Leau, J*DaVeY has gradually subdued the attention of an international cult following over the past ten years. With a style comparable to the chemistry between Missy Elliot and Timbaland, they continue to give audiences drug-induced classics reminiscent to that of the legendary Nirvana.
Thursday, May 3 – Saturday, May 5 from 10:00PM – 11:00PM and 12:00AM – 1:00AM

Leftover Cuties
To call Leftover Cuties retro or throwback would be too easy, and frankly dismissive. Sure, the music fits beside Billie Holiday, but it’s also current in its sex appeal, its sophistication and its confidence. The Cuties’ music – plied with upright bass, accordion, the brushed drums, and yes, ukulele – is not slavishly old timey, but honors its forebears in the right way with melody, sharp playing and stylized, confident, character-laden singing.
Tuesday, May 8 – Thursday, May 10 from 10:00PM – 11:00PM and 12:00AM – 1:00AM

The Wombats
Within the butterfly-breaking cogs of the music industry, big numbers can bring big problems. And The Wombats’ numbers got big, fast. A platinum album with their 2007 debut Guide To Love, Loss And Desperation. Over 300,000 combined sales of their indie dance floor smashes, a two year tour during which Liverpool’s biggest exports in a decade played to well over a million people, culminating in a massive homecoming Liverpool Arena show for 10,000 ecstatic local fans of their dark yet exuberant and infectious alt. pop style.
Friday, May 11 – Saturday, May 12 from 10:30PM – 12:00AM

Palter Ego
Palter Ego is the brain child of vocalist Jesse Palter and keyboardist Sam Barsh, who combine forces to create their own blend of upbeat pop, jazz and soul. Both established musicians, producers and dynamic performers in their own right, (Palter is a five-time Detroit Music Award Winner for her jazz work; Barsh has toured and written with the likes of Norah Jones, Cassandra Wilson, Avishai Cohen and The Brand New Heavies), Palter Ego is creating a niche for themselves by blending catchy hooks, dynamic beats, and captivating lyrics.
Tuesday, May 15 – Thursday, May 17 from 10:00PM – 11:00PM and 12:00AM – 1:00AM
Friday, May 18 – Saturday, May 19 from 10:30PM – 12:00AM

A B & The Sea
Longtime friends Koley O’Brien and Joe Spargur founded A B & The Sea January 1, 2008–not only marking the start of a new year, but a new journey. They packed up their van, waved goodbye to Wisconsin and started making their way to California. After going through a line-up change, A B & The Sea was made complete again with the addition of drummer Troy Lawton, bass player Ben Laatsch and David Hunt on keys.
Tuesday, May 22 – Thursday, May 24 from 10:00PM – 11:00PM and 12:00AM – 1:00AM

Eric Hutchinson
Washington, DC-raised singer, pianist and guitarist Eric Hutchinson has traveled the world over the course of several years and has journeyed toward the making of his latest album, Moving Up Living Down, which is the delightfully witty and supremely wise follow-up to his hit debut, Sounds Like This. Through this journey, he developed a very simple rule regarding new songs. “I traveled so long and got to see so many people and places,” he says. “And sharing music with the fans every night got me thinking: The best concerts are when people sing along with me. So for the next one, what kind of songs do I want people singing with me? What kind of songs do I want people dancing to?” Get ready to sing and dance.
Friday, May 25 – Sunday, May 27 from 10:30PM – 12:00AM

David Brouwer & The Foundation
There are lots of people born to sing. David Brouwer was born to wail…and croon, and make you wish for those moments in music you remember from long ago. Artists can be broken in, but this artist will break the mold, and set a standard. When you meet him, you realize the east coast boyish humor is just the exterior, when you hear him, you see a crooner from the past, built for today. A classic American musician. The kind whose voice and interpretation will make you wonder why you haven’t heard of him before. But thousands have heard him, in clubs and theaters around the globe. He’s the best kept international voice of this decade. David Brouwer – once you’ve listened to him, you won’t forget him.
Tuesday, May 29 – Wednesday, May 30 from 10:00PM – 11:00PM and 12:00AM – 1:00AM

Allen Stone
From backwoods barbecues and community gatherings, Allen Stone emerges to share personal melodies, telling his tales of life after just 23 years. Getting his start singing at his father’s church in small-town America, it wasn’t until later when introduced to the greats of soul music (Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin) and then to the confessional lyrical fashion of the 60’s – 70’s singer/ songwriters, did music begin to ignite intense passion, eventually carrying this boy to a musical home. Stone’s music is notable for his finely crafted evocative songs and fresh, smooth, soul-filled voice-one that certainly belies his age.
Thursday, May 31 and Saturday, June 2 from 10:30PM – 12:00AM
Friday, June 1 from 9:30PM – 10:15PM and 11:15PM – 12:00AM

Bond
Bond, a rhythmic and vibrant hot-spot, features a mash-up of dynamic LED art, live performances and upbeat house music in an energetic ultra lounge setting.

The following acts will be performing at Bond:

Pookie
“Pookie” David Mahoney was born in Hoboken, NJ. The most common question that Mahoney seems to get asked is, why Pookie? This was a nickname given to him by his mother that has been carried along with him throughout his life. In time, family members and friends started to call him “Pookie,” and for some friends, that’s all they know him as. Music has always played a big part in Pookie’s life, starting out young with keyboard, piano, guitar and leading up to turntables, synthesizers and computer production.
Tuesday, May 1; Tuesday, May 15 from 10:00PM – 2:00AM

Lone MTN
The classically trained electronic music producer Lone Mountain is a one man musical army who tore a hole through the Midwest’s underground club gatherings in Chicago while still a student at the University of Notre Dame. After finishing his degree in the Midwest, he studied under the French electronic mastermind Danger (Universal / Ekleroshock Records) to further harness his musical talents onto the dance floors. Inspired by artists who convey stories and emotions through music, such as Chopin, Pink Floyd, Wolfgang Gartner, Vitalic, and Above & Beyond, Lone Mountain’s work projects a story that’s evolving each moment, with no end in sight and one that seems to capture all who will listen.

Jennifer Keith Quintet
Vocalist Jennifer Keith is an American classic and a descendent of a line of entertainers. Many have described her as “the Doris Day of today” and “a pinup doll with a voice reminiscent of Peggy Lee meets Patsy Cline.” Keith began her professional career appearing weekly at the beautiful Madison supper club in Long Beach, CA, where she learned the classic vocal stylings of the jazz and pop singers of the 40’s and 50’s. She was heavily influenced by leading vocalists of the greatest era of music including Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Keely Smith, Julie London and June Christy. In 2010 The Jennifer Keith Quintet began an engagement every Friday and Saturday night in the Observation Bar aboard the prestigious Queen Mary in Long Beach. Billboard Magazine praised Garcia for his “melodic pop sensibility” and “stellar solo debut.” While NPR said, “Garcia’s most brilliant songs are his most anguished ones… at once immense and completely intimate.” The new album shot up the charts, breaking into the iTunes Alternative Top 15 albums, alongside new releases from artists like The Strokes and Death Cab For Cutie
