World-Renowned Mexican Musical Talent, Pedro Fernández, Mariachi Performers, and Folk
Dancers Coming Together for Special Two-Day Tribute

In honor of Mexican Independence Day on September 16, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas presents its first-ever Mexican Independence Day celebration September 15-17, 2011. The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 15 and will feature Mexican star Pedro Fernández on Friday, September 16.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is recognizing Mexico’s most important national holiday with a two-day long celebration, where guests are invited to be immersed in Mexican culture without ever having to leave Las Vegas’ premier entertainment destination. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the “Grito Mexicano,” a cry of patriotism, as it kicks off the festivities on Thursday the 15th at 11:00 p.m., as well as performances by folkloric dancers, temporary tattoo and face painting carts, candy sculpting, and a special menu featured by Holstein’s at a Street Fair taking place on P2 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on September 17. In addition to these events, China Poblano will be serving its entire Mexican menu from the take-out window, and Wicked Spoon and The Cosmopolitan Bake Shop will also have food carts selling Mexican themed food. Marcela Valladolid (from Food Network fame) will also be doing a book signing with a sneak peek at her new book, Mexican Made Easy, at EatDrink from noon to 2:00 p.m. in conjunction with a tequila tasting from noon to 3:00 p.m. hosted by Ambhar Tequila on September 17. Throughout each day, Mariachis will be performing at various hotel locations including the hotel lobby, The Pool District, and the hotel’s centerpiece bar The Chandelier, which will also feature special drinks including – Sangria Sno-Cones, Mango Margarita with Ambhar Tequila and Chile Salt, and Bandera Shots featuring Ambhar Tequila, Lime Juice, and Housemade Sangrita.

Supporting this celebratory tribute to Mexican Independence is famous Mexican recording artist and actor, Pedro Fernández. Fernández will perform in concert at The Boulevard Pool on the night of Friday, September 16. A limited number of premium cabanas are also available by calling 702.698.6797. Guests must be 18+ to attend and 21+ to reserve a cabana. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.
