The Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus Expands Henderson Campus
2nd Grade will now Premiere Fall 2012
The Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus is adding second grade to its Henderson campus beginning in the fall 2012. The Henderson campus is located on the Midbar Kodesh Temple premises in the newly opened David L. Simon Wing and already houses Kindergarten and 1st Grade. The new expansion is part of Adelson Educational Campus’ commitment to continue growing its East side campus.
“We are always looking for more ways to make things convenient for our East side families,” said Paul Schiffman, head of school of Adelson Educational Campus. “By continuing to grow our Henderson campus we are committed to providing a world class education for all our students, no matter where in the valley they reside.”
The Henderson campus classrooms are lead by veteran teachers Linda Cunningham and Beth Picciano and follow the same curriculum as the Summerlin campus. The classrooms contain state-of-the-art technology and replicate the classrooms at the Summerlin location. Students located in Henderson participate in the same activities and field trips as the Summerlin classes including, a visit to the Vanderberg School’s rainforest exhibit, the annual Purim carnival, field games, local theater productions and more. They also have specialists that come in weekly, including Hebrew, Judaics, Art, Music and Physical Education. For those that have older siblings, or want the larger campus experience, Adelson Educational Campus also provides bus services from Henderson to Summerlin for students in Junior Kindergarten through 12th grade.
“With years of teaching behind me I thought it was going to be my time to retire, however, after meeting with the administration at this school, hearing their philosophy and seeing the support provided from Adelson Educational Campus I knew that retirement was not to be,” said veteran teacher Linda Cunningham. “I have been in Clark County for a few decades and have never seen a school quite like Adelson Educational Campus. This school is really special, and I am proud to say that I am part of this great environment for children.”
