The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, announces its roster of public programs for December.

Annual Blood Drive with American Red Cross
Date: Wednesday, Dec. 1
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Inside the American Red Cross’s moblile blood unit located in the Museum’s parking lot.
Cost: Free.
Description: The Mob Museum is partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive. As part of its commitment to the community, the Museum is pleased to offer one complimentary single admission ticket to each person donating blood on Wednesday, December 1 at The Mob Museum site. Book Signing with Jonathan Lang: “Meyer” a Graphic Novel
Date: Saturday, Dec. 11
Time: 1 to 5 p.m.
Location: Inside the Museum’s retail store.
Cost: Free for attendees.
Description: Jonathan Lang’s fictional biography of the legendary mobster Meyer Lansky, told in graphic novel form, portrays his attempt to organize his very last con job. Meyer Lansky is dead … or at least that’s what he wants his enemies to believe. But the old man has one last job to pull off and he can’t do it alone. Once he recruits an innocent bystander, their journey propels them headlong into an adventure filled with murder and malice, toward an ending neither could possibly have foreseen.

Community Safety Forum: Finding Missing Children
Date: Sunday, Dec. 12
Time: 2 to 3 p.m.

Description: This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Amber Alert system, created in response to the abduction and murder of nine-year-old Amber Hagerman in Arlington, Texas. Today, Amber Alert is used in all 50 states. As of April 2021, 1,064 children have been successfully recovered through the emergency alert system. Margarita Edwards, executive director of Nevada Child Seekers, will discuss current missing children cases and child safety. Nevada Child Seekers, established in 1985, is the only non-profit organization in Nevada dedicated to locating missing and exploited children. Its mission is to advocate for and engage in prevention, identification and location efforts on behalf of missing and exploited children. Nevada Child Seekers assists with 400 to 500 missing child cases a year.
Each month, The Mob Museum partners with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and other local agencies to host Community Safety Forums – free public programs focused on pertinent issues that affect Southern Nevada. Thanks to NV Energy, pre-registered guests are given free admission to the Museum following the event. The Mob Museum will also provide a recording of this presentation on its website.

The Fabulous Flamingo: Bugsy, Billy, Virginia and the Making of Modern Las Vegas
Date: Tuesday, Dec. 14

Description: Marking the 75th anniversary of the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, authors Larry Gragg and Willie Wilkerson as well as journalist Lissa Townsend Rodgers will recount the resort’s dramatic origins and its enduring impact on Las Vegas. The roles of Billy Wilkerson, Moe Sedway, Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel and Virginia Hill in the Flamingo’s creation will be highlighted, as will details of the FBI surveillance that nearly derailed the project.
