Tournament of Kings Introduces
New Costumes and Set Pieces
In the midst of battle, Tournament of Kings at Excalibur Hotel & Casino recently debuted new costumes and set pieces incorporating brighter colors and more elaborate designs. Designer Frederick Pinaud, best known for his work with French operas, designed dazzling gowns for the maidens, vibrant tournament attire for the knights and a majestic robe for Merlin the wizard. In addition to brightening the cast’s costumes, the castle façade was enhanced to feature rotating doors, stairs and towers, thus reconfiguring the impressive structure utilized throughout the show. Opposite the façade, a lavish red and gold throne was added for King Arthur to watch the knights valiantly fight for their respective countries. The massive round table used for celebrating and dancing was repainted red, green and blue and emblazoned with gold lions and Celtic designs. In the words of Merlin, “Huzzah!”
