11 a.m. PT contest to be televised on CBS Sports Network
The UNLV men’s basketball team (19-9, 8-7 MW) will head back out on the road, this time for a rare Sunday game against New Mexico (14-14, 9-6 MW) Feb. 25 at 12 p.m. MT/11 a.m. PT at Dreamstyle Arena (The Pit).
UNLV is looking to end a two-game losing streak and avenge an 85-81 loss to New Mexico at the Thomas & Mack Center on Jan. 17.
Prior to its loss at San Diego State last Saturday, the Runnin’ Rebels had won three straight games and five of their previous six, including a victory at then-No. 23 UNR. UNLV’s three-game win streak marked the first in Mountain West play for the Runnin’ Rebels since 2016 and the stretch of five wins in six games was its first in conference play since 2014. UNLV lost at home to Fresno State, 77-64, on Wednesday night in its last outing.
UNLV is ninth in the nation in rebounding (40.64 per game), 18th in field-goal percentage (49.5), 19th in scoring (83.9), 38th in assists per game (16.2) and 38th in blocked shots per game (4.6). Additionally, the Runnin’ Rebels are No. 4 in the nation in free-throw attempts (734) and eighth in made free throws (518). Individually, Brandon McCoy and Shakur Juiston rank in the top 22 in the country in rebounding. McCoy is 19th (10.1 rpg), while Juiston is 22nd (9.9). UNLV is the only team in the nation with two top-22 rebounders. McCoy ranks 12th in double-doubles with 15, while Juiston is 30th with 12. Senior guard Jordan Johnson is 29th in the nation in assists with 5.8 apg. UNLV leads the Mountain West in scoring, rebounding and blocks.
Sunday’s game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network with Dave Ryan, Steve Wolf and John Schriffen (sideline) calling the action.
