RUNNIN’ REBELS BACK HOME FOR SAN JOSE STATE WEDNESDAY
Shorthanded UNLV vs. Spartans at 7 p.m. at Thomas & Mack Center
The shorthanded UNLV men’s basketball team will look to snap a three-game losing skid as it returns home to host San José State on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center (18,000).
UNLV (13-11, 4-7 MW) is coming off a home loss to Mountain West-leading San Diego State (67-52) on Jan. 30, a road loss at New Mexico (87-83) on Feb. 2 and a road loss at Fresno State (111-104 in double overtime) on Saturday. Prior to the SDSU game, the Runnin’ Rebels defeated Boise State, 87-77, at home on Jan. 27. UNLV lost junior forward Ben Carter for the season during the SDSU game and on Saturday, freshman forward Stephen Zimmerman Jr. suffered a knee injury that will keep him out of action indefinitely. UNLV is 4-4 under Interim Head Coach Todd Simon.
San José State (8-15, 3-8 MW) has won back-to-back MW games for the first time in program history. After losing four in a row, the Spartans won at home vs. Air Force (75-54) on Jan. 30 and vs. Fresno State (65-53) on Feb. 3. Wednesday’s game at UNLV will mark SJSU’s first in a week.
Wednesday’s game will be the only regular-season meeting between UNLV and San José State this year because of the MW’s unbalanced league schedule. UNLV swept the regular-season series with the Spartans last year.
Wednesday’s game will be shown on ESPN3 with Trey Bender and Blaine Fowler calling the action. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio broadcast, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM. All internet links along with live stats will be available at UNLVRebels.com.
