RUNNIN’ REBELS TO PLAY SAINT KATHERINE FRIDAY NIGHT

Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Orleans Arena
After having its two-game win streak snapped on Wednesday night at Arizona State, the UNLV men’s basketball team won’t have to wait long to get back on the court. The Runnin’ Rebels will play Saint Katherine on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
The Runnin’ Rebels, who had to replace all five starters from a year ago, have played six freshmen, two sophomores and two seniors this season. Freshman guard Rashad Vaughn scored 26 points in the season opener, 29 on Saturday against Albany and leads the team in scoring with an average of 16.2 ppg. He went down on Wednesday with a back injury and his status is uncertain at this time. Sophomore forward Christian Wood has four double-doubles this year and has averages of 12.2 ppg and team highs of 9.3 rpg and 3.3 bpg. Freshman forward Goodluck Okonoboh is second on the team with 3.2 bpg, while senior guard Cody Doolin leads the squad with 5.7 apg and has an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.3.
The Runnin’ Rebels are second in the country in blocked shots (8.5 bpg) and 24th in field-goal percentage defense (36.0).
Friday’s game will not be televised but a free video stream will be available online at UNLVRebels.com with Tony Cordasco and Keith Starr calling the action. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio call, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM in Las Vegas.
