UNLV MEN’S GOLF TRAVELS TO TUCSON FOR N.I.T

The UNLV men’s golf team returns to team competition this week, traveling to Tucson for Arizona’s prestigious N.I.T. event this weekend, March 18-19. The two-day tournament will take place on the Catalina Course (par 72 7,200 yards) at Omni Tucson National, with two rounds set for Friday and the final round on Saturday.
The strong field features seven teams in the top 25, including No. 1 Oklahoma, who won UNLV’s Southern Highlands Collegiate at the end of February, and No. 2 Oklahoma State.
The Rebels have won the team title once in 2018, while former Rebels Shintaro Ban (2018) and Ryan Moore (2004) captured individual medalist honors for UNLV.
THE FIELD: The field features 15 teams. In addition to UNLV, competing teams include Arizona, No. 5 Arkansas, Colorado State, No. 25 Illinois, New Mexico, No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 9 Pepperdine, San Diego, San Diego State, No. 13 Tennessee, No. 12 Texas, Southern California and Wyoming.
UNLV LINEUP: Competing for the Rebels will be sophomore Caden Fioroni, junior George Leigh, sophomore Ben Sawaia, senior JJ Gresco and senior David Rauch
SCHEDULE: The tournament will be held Friday-Saturday, Feb. 18-19. Following Thursday’s practice round, 36 holes will be played Friday and the final 18 on Saturday.

MOUNTAIN WEST AWARDS: Rebel sophomore Caden Fioroni was named Mountain West Golfer of the Week on March 4 after he finished tied for 10th at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, which included a second-round 66.
