2013-14 UNLV Swimming and Diving schedule

A total of eight schools from a year ago make a repeat appearance on slate for UNLV this season, starting with road meets at Pac-12 members Arizona on Oct. 25 and at Arizona State on Oct. 26 to open the year. UNLV’s home opener will be against the University of Toronto on Nov. 1, and then its back on the road again for a pair of dual meets at former Mountain West schools Utah and BYU, on Nov. 8 and 9, respectively.

Then comes perhaps the highlight of the regular season, the UNLV Fall Invitational, held on Nov. 21-23 in Buchanan Natatorium. There will be seven men’s teams competing, including four that scored at last year’s NCAA championships (Arizona State – 18th, Stanford – 7th, UNLV – 29th, Wyoming – 40th), along with BYU, Northern Arizona and UCSB. On the women’s side, there are three teams that scored last year that will be attending, led by California, 2013 NCAA runner-ups. Also coming is UCLA (17th) and Arizona State (23rd), along with BYU, Northern Arizona, Oregon State, UCSB and UNLV.

That will conclude the competition in the 2013 calendar year. UNLV will return to action after the new year on Jan. 11 at UCSB, and then will host a quad-meet along with Air Force, CSU Bakersfield and Denver on Jan. 25. The dual meet season will conclude the next weekend with another home meet, this time against Wyoming and the women’s squad from Nevada, Reno, on Feb. 1.

UNLV will then take off for conference championships, with the women up first at the Mountain West meet on Feb. 19-22 at the Palo Alto Aquatics Center in San Antonio, Texas. The Rebel men, competing in their third conference in the past four years, have rejoined the Western Athletic Conference and will compete in the 2014 WAC Championships on Feb. 26-Mar. 1. That meet will also be held in the Palo Alto Aquatics Center. This year’s women’s NCAA Championships will be held on March 20-22 in Minneapolis, Minn., while the men’s will be on March 27-29 in Austin, Texas.

The Rebels returns the majority of a men’s squad that won the 2013 MPSF Championship and finished 29th at the NCAA Championships, including four swimmers that earned honorable mention All-American status. The women meanwhile bring back a strong group that is expected to challenge for a top-three finish in the Mountain West.
