UNLV women’s swimming and diving junior Kristina Schneider was named the Raising Cane’s Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics’ Strategic Communications department.

A native of Baia Mare, Romania, Schneider claimed four first-place medals at the Mountain West Championships, with the most important coming on the final event of the night, as she came from behind in the final 25 yards with a blistering 48.74 final leg in the 400 free relay to just out-touch UNR and give UNLV its first MW title in 16 years.

She also helped the Rebels earn the MW gold in the 200 free relay.
