UNLV WOMEN’S SOCCER HOSTS PAIR OF JULY CAMPS
Both camps will be held on the UNLV campus
The UNLV women’s soccer program will host two camps this July, both on the UNLV campus. The first is for ages 5-12, while the second camp will be a College ID camp in July.
Rebel Soccer Academy II for BOYS AND GIRLS is a unique opportunity for 5-12 year-old players to improve their skills, gain knowledge of the game and have fun! The Academy II is coached by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Coaching Staff and members of the UNLV Soccer Team. The UNLV Soccer Team is a nationally recognized program.
The Academy II is considered a full-day Academy and includes additional sessions involving indoor matches and time in the UNLV Recreational Center Pool. The Academy II will focus on beginner and intermediate age-specific training, while highlighting the rewards that the game of soccer provides. The specific fundamentals that will be taught are dribbling, turning, shielding, passing, receiving, shooting, tackling, and utilizing both feet.
This Academy provides a positive experience in soccer with boys and girls their own age and ability. Fundamentals and Good Sportsmanship are important skills each player will develop from this Academy. It will help players understand positioning and the basic principles involved in individual and small-group play. These skills are essential at this level in order to play well within a team setting. The Academy will encourage team work and develop confidence.
The morning session on UNLV soccer fields will use three activities, in progression, to address the central theme of the day. Immediately following this session will be lunch. After lunch, the afternoon session will take place at the UNLV recreational center will involve small sided matches and pool time.
The College ID Camp sessions are for GIRLS ONLY and are coached by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Coaching Staff and members of the UNLV Soccer Team. The UNLV Soccer Team is a nationally recognized program.
College ID Camp is designed to improve the skills of players who aspire to play at the next level. Session will be designed using intense and aggressive college style drills, while helping players prepare for the next level. The focus will be on the technical and tactical development of each player. We will be focusing on important traits of quality players: Confidence, Composure, Vision and Strength.
College ID Camp will teach players an understanding of the 3rds of the field better (defensive zone, midfield zone and attacking zone). It will help players understand positioning and the basic principles involved in individual and small-group play.
Finally, College ID Camp will help players to think more than 1-pass ahead during play- fast, forward, and finding space to attack. Participants will focus more on a possession-style of soccer. Our staff will help explain and demonstrate natural patterns that maintain possession. We will work with each player to improve their timing, accuracy and confidence on/ off the ball.
All sessions are held at the Peter Johann Memorial Field and Women’s Soccer Practice Facility located on the campus of University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
