MIRACLE MILE SHOPS’ FOUNTAIN GLOWS BULE FOR JDRF THROUGHOUT NOVEMBER
Hosts kickoff event at the fountain Nov. 1 and networking reception at Pampas Churrascaria Brazilian Grille Nov. 7
As part of its Caring, Giving, Changing community campaign, Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will turn its fountain blue during the month of November and donate all change tossed in to the Nevada Chapter of JDRF, the world’s largest nonprofit supporter of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
To kick off the month-long fountain fundraiser, JDRF youth ambassadors and family members will gather in front of the blue fountain for a photo at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1. Afterwards, the group will receive complimentary tickets to V – The Ultimate Variety Show at V Theater courtesy of David Saxe Productions.
Additionally, JDRF’s Young Leadership Council (YLC) will host a networking fundraiser at Pampas Churrascaria Brazilian Grille from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. During the event, guests will meet and mingle with cause-related young professionals and learn about JDRF’s YLC. Tickets to the event will be sold in advance for $30 per person or two for $50 and can be purchased online. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $35 each. All proceeds will benefit the Nevada chapter of JDRF. For more information about this event or the YLC, please contact Regan Milligan at 702-418-3105 or [email protected].
Throughout the month, Pampas Churrascaria Brazilian Grille will also offer guests who make a $5 donation to JDRF a two-for-one dining special valid through Nov. 30.
As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF has awarded more than $1.6 billion to diabetes research since its founding in 1970. JDRF research strives to improve the lives of all people affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating and preventing T1D. The organization’s efforts have helped to significantly advance the care of people with this disease and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D.
Miracle Mile Shops’ partnership with the Nevada Chapter of JDRF is part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing campaign, celebrating a year of change in 2013. In addition to monthly fountain fundraisers, the Caring, Giving, Changing campaign also raises funds for other programs and organizations through community sponsorships, additional partnerships and a number of cash and in-kind donations. In previous months, Miracle Mile Shops teamed up with The Shade Tree (January), Goodie Two Shoes Foundation (February), March of Dimes (March), Easter Seals Nevada (April), Dress For Success Southern Nevada (May), WestCare Nevada (June), USO Las Vegas (July), Communities In Schools of Nevada (August), Nevada PEP (September) and United Way of Southern Nevada Women’s Leadership Council (October). In December, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada will receive a fountain fundraiser as part of the community outreach campaign.
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $530 million in scientific research in 17 countries. In 2012 alone, JDRF provided more than $110 million to T1D research. More than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. In 2012 Forbes magazine named JDRF one of its five All-Star charities, citing the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness.
