GARTH BROOKS TO RECEIVE COVETED ICON AWARD
AT THE “2020 BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS”

BROOKS TO ALSO TAKE THE STAGE FOR
HIGHLY ANTICIPATED PERFORMANCE

The “2020 Billboard Music Awards” Airs
Wednesday, April 29 at 8 P.M. ET/PT on NBC

dick clark productions and NBC announced today that Garth Brooks will receive the coveted ICON Award at the “2020 Billboard Music Awards.” The 19-time Billboard Music Award winner, who joins only eight other artists to ever receive the honor, will also take the stage for a highly anticipated performance.

A true legend, Brooks is the first and only artist in history to achieve eight diamond-certified albums at over 10 million album sales each. He remains the #1-selling solo artist in U.S. history, certified by the RIAA with more than 156 million album sales.

The “2020 Billboard Music Awards” will broadcast live from Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and will feature this year’s hottest musical acts, unexpected collaborations and buzzworthy moments.

Brooks has earned nine No. 1 albums on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (the most of any country artist), with chart-toppers in the ’90s, ’00s and ’10s. Seven of them debuted at No. 1. Brooks also claimed 17 No. 1s on the Top Country Albums chart and 89 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart including 19 No. 1s. Among those leaders: “Friends in Low Places,” “The Thunder Rolls,” “Ain’t Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up),” “Longneck Bottle” and “More Than a Memory.”

In January, Billboard announced that Brooks became the first artist to have appeared on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart in the ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s, ‘10s and ‘20s. Brooks first appeared on the chart after the release of his first album, Garth Brooks. Its first single, “Much Too Young (to Feel This Damn Old),” entered the chart in 1989 at No. 94 (when the ranking ran 100 positions deep). The track peaked at No. 8 that July, becoming Brooks’ first of 36 top 10s. Now, in the ’20s, he makes another appearance on the Hot Country Songs chart thanks to his collaborative track with Blake Shelton, “Dive Bar.” The single inspired a Dive Bar tour to dive bars in country music capitals around the U.S., which will continue its run through 2022.

In 2019, Brooks launched the Garth Brooks Stadium Tour, which has broken stadium attendance records at every stop so far and which Pollstar declared as the bestselling country music tour of the year. In 2017, Brooks finished the three-and-a-half-year long Garth Brooks World Tour with wife Trisha Yearwood. The tour sold over 6.3 million tickets, making it the biggest North American tour in history and the biggest American tour in the world.

Previous recipients of the ICON Award include Cher, Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey.

“Billboard Music Awards” nominees and winners are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music/MRC Data. The awards are based on the chart period of March 23, 2019 through March 14, 2020. Since 1940, the Billboard charts have been the go-to guide for ranking the popularity of artists, songs and albums, and are the ultimate measure of success in music.

The “2020 Billboard Music Awards” is produced by dick clark productions. Barry Adelman, Mark Bracco, Kelly Clarkson, Robert Deaton and Amy Thurlow are executive producers.

Tickets will go on sale to the public at 10:00 AM PST on Friday, February 28, 2020.  CLICK HERE to purchase.

UNLV MEN’S BASKETBALL NEWS: Wear White Wednesday For Senior Night

WEAR WHITE WEDNESDAY FOR SENIOR NIGHT

Runnin’ Rebels will host Boise State at 8 p.m. in regular-season home finale

Game Notes vs. Boise State (PDF)  |  Buy UNLVtickets  |  Media Guide  |  Schedule  |  @UNLVAthletics  |  @TheRunninRebels

The UNLV men’s basketball team, winner of three straight games, four of its last five overall and eight of its last 10 at home, will host Boise State on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center for its regular-season home finale, which is also Senior Night.

All fans are encouraged to wear white to the game and the first 3,500 through the doors can pick up a free white t-shirt. Additionally, the free Runnin’ Rebel Fest will open at 6 p.m. near the Tark Statue and features music, games, food, drinks and more. Tickets to the game start at just $16 when purchased before the day of the game at UNLVtickets.com, by calling 702-739-FANS (3267) or by visiting the Thomas & Mack Center Box Office.

The Runnin’ Rebels are coming off their biggest road win in 29 years. UNLV ended then-No. 4 San Diego State’s perfect season on Saturday with a 66-63 victory in San Diego. It marked the highest-ranked team that UNLV has defeated in a true road game since No. 2 Arkansas in 1991. The Runnin’ Rebels blew out Colorado State, 80-56, last Tuesday, and won at New Mexico, 78-73, on Feb. 15.

Sophomore guard Bryce Hamilton and junior guard Amauri Hardy lead the Runnin’ Rebels (15-14, 10-6) in scoring, averaging 15.5 and 14.1 points per game, respectively. Hamilton was named Mountain West Player of the Week on Monday after recording double-doubles in his last two games. He has now scored in double figures in 16 straight contests and has tallied 23 or more points in six of his last 10 games. Junior forward Mbacke Diong is the team’s leading rebounder with 8.1 per contest (5th in MW). UNLV is under new leadership this year in head coach T.J. Otzelberger.

Boise State (19-10, 11-6) is in its 10th year under head coach Leon Rice. The Broncos have won three of their last four games and eight of their last 10. Derrick Alston leads the team in scoring with 17.8 ppg (3rd in MW), while RJ Williams is the leading rebounder with 8.4 rpg (4th in MW).

Boise State won the season’s first meeting between the two teams, 73-66, in Boise on Jan. 8.

Wednesday’s game will be televised by CBS Sports Network with Rich Waltz and Dan Dickau calling the action. Jon Sandler, former Runnin’ Rebel Curtis Terry and Steve Cofield (sideline reporter) will handle the UNLV radio call, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 in Las Vegas and online via the UNLVGameday App and TuneIn.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG Attendees Can Scan Their Badges To Ride The Monorail

ALL ATTENDEES OF CONEXPO-CON/AGG CAN SCAN THEIR TRADESHOW
BADGES AT FARE GATES TO RIDE THE MONORAIL

The Las Vegas Monorail announces CONEXPO-CON/AGG & IFPE, to be held in Las Vegas March 10 – 14, will include unlimited Monorail rides via 3-day and 7-day passes embedded into every attendee’s and exhibitor’s registration badge. Having Monorail fare integrated into event badges represents a welcome added value for attendees; it makes riding the system even more convenient while enabling them to avoid congested roadways.

This year’s CONEXPO/CON/AGG has events taking place at two stops along the route:  the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, conveniently accessed from the SAHARA Las Vegas station, and the Las Vegas Convention Center. This fact ensures the Monorail will provide the single most convenient way to navigate the sprawling tradeshow expected to draw nearly 130,000 attendees from around the globe.

“Three years ago, our partners at CONEXPO-CON/AGG understood immediately how an integrated Monorail ticket improved convenience and access when more of their attendees than ever utilized our system,” said Ingrid Reisman, vice president and chief marketing officer, Las Vegas Monorail. “As a complimentary benefit, this partnership provides a valuable transportation alternative that doesn’t rely on the roadways in the corridor. This year, with two tradeshow locations connected by Monorail stations, we look forward to being able to provide even more convenience and connectivity.”

Another exciting development for meetings and conventions groups: when CAESARS FORUM, the new 500,000-square-foot conference and events center located at the Harrah’s/The LINQ station, opens March 18, the Monorail will count three major convention facilities and one major outdoor festival destination along its route. Along with the Las Vegas Convention Center and Las Vegas Festival Grounds, the Monorail also directly serves the MGM Grand Conference Center.

For more information about the Las Vegas Monorail for tradeshows and corporate group sales, click here.

ABOUT THE LAS VEGAS MONORAIL
The Las Vegas Monorail provides a quick and convenient connection along the Las Vegas Strip, linking riders to world-class restaurants, shows, shops, day/nightclubs, spas, hotels and casinos. In minutes, Monorail riders can travel the famous Las Vegas Strip in a safe, comfortable and clean environment – without the hassles of traffic or wasted time. Currently, the privately funded Monorail system includes seven stations: MGM Grand; Bally’s/Paris Las Vegas; Flamingo/Caesars Palace; Harrah’s/The LINQ; Las Vegas Convention Center; Westgate Resort & Casino and SAHARA Las Vegas. Las Vegas’ “green” public transportation choice, the Monorail’s electric trains are zero-emission vehicles. Hours of operation are Mondays, 7 a.m. to midnight; Tuesday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Friday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. For more information on the Las Vegas Monorail or where to purchase tickets, call 866-4-MONORAIL (866-466-6672); visit www.LVMonorail.com for more information.

KELLY CLARKSON RETURNS
TO HOST THE ‘2020 BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS’
LIVE WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29 AT 8 P.M. ET/PT ON NBC

Three-Hour Telecast From Las Vegas Marks Clarkson’s
Third Consecutive Year as Host

NBC and dick clark productions announced today that Kelly Clarkson will return once again to host NBC’s three-hour live telecast of the “2020 Billboard Music Awards” on Wednesday, April 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. This will mark Clarkson’s third time hosting the hugely popular award show after receiving unanimous acclaim as host in 2018 and 2019.

The “2020 Billboard Music Awards” will be broadcast live from Las Vegas and feature the year’s hottest musical acts, unexpected collaborations and buzzworthy moments.

As host, Clarkson has helped create many iconic Billboard Music Awards moments, including unexpected cameos by surprise guests. Her opening performances, where she puts her own vocal spin on the year’s top hits, have become a can’t miss moment on the show and are widely anticipated by fans.

“I’m thrilled to be back with my Billboard family,” Clarkson said. “I love being part of an event that celebrates our greatest artists and entertains our fans. This a night of music that you won’t want to miss!”

Clarkson serves as a coach for season 18 of NBC’s multi-Emmy Award-winning musical competition series “The Voice” and hosts her own daytime program, “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” which was the fall season’s #1 new syndicated show. She is among the most popular artists of this era with total worldwide sales of more than 25 million albums and 40 million singles.

Clarkson is the recipient of an array of awards, including three Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards and one Country Music Assn. Award. She has notched three #1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, among 11 top 10’s and 27 total appearances. She has also tallied three #1 albums on the Billboard 200, among eight top 10’s in11 total appearances. Her versatility has also resulted in seven #1 singles on the Dance Club Songs chart; four on both the Pop Songs and Adult Pop Songs charts; three on Adult Contemporary; and one on Hot Country Songs.

To date in her career, she has drawn 61 billion in cumulative radio audience and 2.8 billion on-demand U.S. streams and sold 14.6 million albums in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

The “2019 Billboard Music Awards” averaged a 2.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.0 million viewers, according to “live plus same day” Nielsens, delivering NBC’s best in-season Wednesday in 18-49, excluding Olympics, since 2016. The awards telecast jumped +110% above NBC’s Wednesday season average in the 18-49 demo and was up +1.5 million persons in total viewers to top every Big 4 entertainment telecast over the prior seven weeks in 18-49.

The follow-up, 1989’s Repeat Offender, was even more successful, hitting #1 and going quadruple-platinum with two #1 singles in “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting.” When both Rush Street (with two #1 AC hits in “Keep Coming Back” and “Hazard”) and Paid Vacation (with its #1 AC hit, “Now and Forever”) went platinum, Marx achieved a seven-year string of triumphs that rivaled any in pop-rock music history. To this day, he is the only male artist in history to have his first seven singles reach the Top 5 on the Billboard charts.

Richard has also written on a No. 1 single in each of the last four decades, an accolade previously only reached by Michael Jackson. Over the next 25 years, G. Love would go on to release seven more similarly lauded studio albums with Special Sauce, plus four solo albums on his own, solidifying his place in music history as a genre-bending pioneer with a sound The New York Times described as “a new and urgent hybrid” and NPR called a “musical melting pot.” G Love’s magnetic stage presence, meanwhile, made him a fixture on festival lineups from Bonnaroo to Lollapalooza, and his relentless appetite for tour and collaboration landed him on the road and in the studio with artists as diverse as Lucinda Williams, Dave Matthews, The Avett Brothers, Jack Johnson and DJ Logic. G. Love has played with and without Special Sauce over the years, but now the trio is back together and it feels right. G. Love believes the current manifestation of the band is stronger than ever and is riding a creative high.

Poison – Original Lineup to Rock The Pearl Sept. 4

POISON

Original Lineup Set to Rock the Pearl at Palms Casino Resort

Friday, Sept. 4 at 9 p.m.

Tickets on sale – Friday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m.

Poison brings its original lineup (Bret Michaels C.C. DeVille Bobby Dall, and Rikki Rockett) to the intimate Pearl Theater inside Palms Casino Resort on Friday, Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $59.95, plus applicable fees.

In its all original lineup, Poison has kept it rocking, real and relevant, bringing their own style, unbelievable live energy and hit songs to the big stage. Relentless from the ground up and forged in the hell fires of the Pennsylvania and Los Angeles club scenes, they smashed their way up as an independent band who bet on themselves. Bringing a ‘one part song, one part party’ and no holds barred, full throttle energy to their live stage performance, Poison paid its dues in the small bars and night clubs of the upper east coast.

By betting on themselves, Poison ended up forming their own record label Cyanide Music along with an independent distributor in Enigma records. The band broke the gates wide-open with their first album release Look What The Cat Dragged In. Selling more than 3 million copies of the independent album, which included the big hits “Talk Dirty To Me,” “I Won’t Forget You,” “Cry Tough,” “I Want Action,” and the underground smash “Look What The Cat Dragged In,” they were soon picked up by Capitol Records and beat the sophomore jinx by releasing the No. 1 smash “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn.” Written by singer/songwriter and frontman Bret Michaels, the song would remain atop the pop, rock and country charts for three months consecutively.

Also from that sophomore album, Open Up and Say…Ahh!, which sold 8 million copies out of the gate, hit singles “Fallen Angel,” “Nothin’ But A Good Time,” and “Your Mama Don’t Dance.” The multi-platinum album Flesh & Blood followed, lighting up the charts again with several more smash hit singles including “Unskinny Bop, “Something To Believe In,” and more. Countless Poison albums and BMB (Bret Michaels Band) solo releases followed, growing the group’s fan base worldwide.

As a lifelong Type 1 juvenile diabetic, Michaels was awarded the Humanitarian Of The Year award in 2019 for his philanthropic work. Michaels also continues to celebrate our veterans and first responders on-stage nightly.

Tickets for Poison are $59.95, $69.95, $89.95, $169.95 and $329.95 (front row), plus applicable fees and go on sale Friday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. Doors open at 8 p.m. Guests under 21 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased at the Pearl Theater box office, any Station Casinos Rewards Center or online at Ticketmaster.com.
