With previous Culinary Road Trip stops that have paid homage to regions across the U.S., including New Orleans, Wisconsin, New York, Las Vegas, and Philadelphia, Chef Scott Commings and the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino are dedicating September’s monthly event to a very special Texas Culinary Road Trip aimed to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Set to take place on Wednesday, September 27 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., the event will be expanded to allow for up to 150 people to take part in this unique dining series. Tickets to the multi-course dinner will be $50 per person/$400 per table of eight. 100% of all ticket sales will be donated directly to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund set up by Houston Mayor, Sylvester Turner (https://ghcf.org/hurricane-relief/). Tickets are now available for purchase online here. In addition, Freedom Beat will continue to support the hurricane relief efforts by donating $2 from every lunch and dinner entrée purchased between Sept. 1 and Sept. 30.
Chef Scott’s seventh dinner stop will take guests on a unique excursion Deep in the Heart of Texas with a western cuisine aimed to give event-goers a taste of the Lone Star State while raising money for those effected by the storm, “During all of these previous dinners, I have always put forth the feeling, sense, and message of camaraderie and community to all guests,” notes Commings. “This is a great time to continue that effort and give the people of Las Vegas the opportunity to give back to the people in Texas, Freedom Beat Style.”
The “Everything is Bigger in Texas” menu will include:

Texas Caviar
BBQ platter
