Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Announces 2020 Exhibition Schedule

2020 EXHIBITION SCHEDULE

The museum’s 2020 exhibitions will feature Country Music Hall of Fame member Bill Anderson, Martina McBride and Chris Stapleton.

 The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has set its 2020 roster of new exhibitions, aimed at entertaining and enlightening country music audiences and interpreting the ever-evolving story of the music and the people who make it.

The annual exhibition American Currents: State of the Music will return in 2020, to offer insight into the latest chapter of country’s ongoing evolution as a popular art form. In addition, the museum will devote separate exhibits to the lives and careers of Country Music Hall of Fame member Bill Anderson, award-winning powerhouse vocalist Martina McBride and acclaimed artist Chris Stapleton.

“Each of these artists achieved country music stardom in a different era, and each has a compelling story to tell about early exposure to music, about the decision to pursue music as a career and about the struggle to overcome the challenges created by such a decision,” said Museum CEO Kyle Young. “In 2020, we will offer our visitors insight into the life of a Country Music Hall of Fame member who has been writing hits for more than 60 years; a magnificent singer who owns four CMA Female Vocalist of the Year awards; and a singer-songwriter who made his way from small clubs to sold-out arenas and four CMA Male Vocalist of the Year awards.”

Now an annual offering, American Currents: State of the Music will open March 6, 2020. The exhibition represents the ongoing research, analysis, vigorous debate, and yes, even argument, among curators and museum staff to determine the most important developments in country music over the previous year.

The Chris Stapleton exhibition will open June 26, 2020. Before he achieved solo success with the 2015 release of triple-platinum album Traveller and the hits “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Parachute,” Stapleton proved his musical mettle as a songwriter, with more than 150 songs recorded by a diverse roster of artists including Adele, Luke Bryan, Alison Krauss and George Strait. This exhibit will explore Stapleton’s personal and musical influences and his climb to stardom, including his time in the SteelDrivers.

“I’m proud to get to share pieces of our musical journey at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum,” said Stapleton.

An exhibit exploring Martina McBride’s legacy opens Aug. 21, 2020. For more than 25 years, McBride – known for hits including “Independence Day” and “A Broken Wing” – has ranked as one of country music’s most powerful voices. The Kansas native released her major label debut in 1992, and had her first Top Ten single in 1993 with “My Baby Loves Me.” Inspired by forerunners such as Linda Ronstadt and Country Music Hall of Fame members Reba McEntire and Connie Smith, McBride brought a powerful voice and style that set her apart from her peers. In 2019, the Academy of Country Music presented her with the Cliffie Stone Icon Award for her contributions to country music.

“Having an exhibit in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is something I’ve had on my dream list for a long, long time,” said McBride. “Being able to share moments and mementos from my life and career with my fans and country music fans from all over the world is both humbling and exciting. I’m so grateful to be a part of country music.”

On Nov. 20, 2020, the museum will open a special exhibition looking at the life of Country Music Hall of Fame member Bill Anderson. Known for his breathy, conversational vocal style, “Whisperin’ Bill” Anderson has logged 37 Top Ten hits as a recording artist. Anderson has earned more than 50 BMI awards for songwriting. His first success came in 1958, when he wrote “City Lights,” a #1 single for Country Music Hall of Fame member Ray Price. Anderson’s songs have been recorded by James Brown, Kenny Chesney, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dean Martin, and hundreds of others, among them Hall of Fame members the Louvin Brothers, Roger Miller, Jim Reeves, Connie Smith, George Strait, Porter Wagoner and Kitty Wells. In 2005, Anderson and Jon Randall Stewart wrote “Whiskey Lullaby,” recorded by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss. It was CMA Song of the Year, and in 2007, Anderson won the CMA and ACM Song of the Year awards for “Give It Away,” written with Buddy Cannon and Jamey Johnson and recorded by Strait. A Grand Ole Opry member since 1961, Anderson entered the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1975, the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002 and the New York-based Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018.

“I grew up dreaming of the day they’d put my ball glove into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, but realized many years ago that wasn’t going to happen. But now, knowing that my guitar and maybe a rhinestone suit or two will be put into an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, more than makes up for it. When our Hall does an exhibit, they really do it up right. I am thrilled to know that I am about to be a small part of their incredible legacy,” Anderson shared.

The museum’s continuing exhibition Outlaws & Armadillos: Country’s Roaring ‘70s, looks at the relationship between Austin, Texas, and Nashville during the 1970s, an era of freewheeling cultural and artistic exchange that skirted the status quo and changed country music. The exhibition opened in May 2018 and continues through Feb. 14, 2021.

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum and Kacey Musgraves now hold the GUINESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the world’s largest display of coloring pages. The record was set yesterday, Oct. 22, 2019, National Color Day.

A 500-pound, rainbow-shaped display that included 1,550 coloring pages, submitted by people from more than 30 states, was unveiled yesterday in the museum’s Mike Curb Conservatory in support of the exhibition Kacey Musgraves: All of the Colors. Musgraves made an appearance at the museum and was joined by museum CEO Kyle Young to accept the award.

Kacey Musgraves: All of the Colors runs through June 7, 2020.

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum collects, preserves, and interprets country music and its history for the education and entertainment of diverse audiences. On Feb. 10, 2020, Urban will bring together a who’s who of performers for a one-night-only Bridgestone Arena concert to support the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s
education programs.


Between periods of the Nashville Predators’ nationally televised home opener against the Minnesota Wild, Keith Urban took to the ice to perform and announce that the All for the Hall benefit concert, presented by City National Bank, will return to Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020. Ingrid Andress, Luke Combs, Lauren Daigle, Brothers OsborneBlake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, Tenille Townes and Tanya Tucker will join Urban for his seventh All For The Hall benefit concert, which to date has raised $3.4 million in support of the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s education programs. Additional artists are expected to be named later. Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at 10 a.m. central time, and can be purchased at LiveNation.com and the Bridgestone Arena box office. VIP ticketing packages, which include premium seating, meet-and-greet opportunities and more, will also be made available.

 

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, through its exhibits and educational programs, shares the ever-evolving country music story, from its folk roots to the present day. Throughout this narrative, the inspiration that artists draw from their musical forbearers is tangible. This exploration of how music inspires and influences later generations of artists led directly to the concert’s theme, All for the Hall: Under the Influence. During the concert, each participating artist will perform a song that was recorded by an artist who strongly influences them, in addition to one of their own hits.

AREA15 gets primal with the newest addition to its experiential retail and entertainment tenant lineup: Dueling Axes, the premiere indoor axe-throwing lounge native to Columbus, Ohio. Today, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced that eight-time Golden Globe winner and fifteen-time nominee, Tom Hanks, will be honored with the coveted Cecil B. deMille Award at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The highly-acclaimed star of such legendary films as “Big,” “Forrest Gump,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “Cast Away,” and the upcoming release of “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” will accept the honor at Hollywood’s Party of the Year® on Sunday, January 5, 2020 airing LIVE coast-to-coast from 5-8 p.m. PT/8-11 p.m. ET on NBC.

Hanks’ complex and moving performances have earned him the honor of being one of only two actors in history to win back-to-back Best Actor Academy Awards®, he won his first Oscar® in 1994 for his moving portrayal of AIDS-stricken lawyer Andrew Beckett in Jonathan Demme’s “Philadelphia.” The following year, he took home his second Oscar for his unforgettable performance in the title role of Robert Zemeckis’ “Forrest Gump.”  He also won the Golden Globe Award for both films, as well as a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award® for the latter.

In 2013, Hanks was seen starring in Golden Globe nominated film “Captain Phillips,” for which he received Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA nominations as well as in AFI’s Movie of the Year “Saving Mr. Banks” with Emma Thompson. On Sept. 14, while race drivers are revving up their engines for the big race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Exotics Racing will operate its supercar driving experience on Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club’s challenging 1.6-mile racetrack.

Exotics Racing’s multi-award-winning supercar driving experience will unfold the same way as at its resident Las Vegas location, with the same choice of vehicles and activities.

Built to standards like no other racetrack in the nation, Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club is set against a stunning mountain backdrop just 55 miles West of the Las Vegas Strip. The racetrack combines two fast straightaways with a total of 11 thrilling corners. Its half-mile straightaway allows for top speeds above 140 mph, while steep elevation changes will make guests’ stomachs drop. This state-of-the-art facility encompasses the longest road course in North America, with over six miles of challenging racetrack and more than 50 unique configurations.

$150 million transformation of iconic resort continues under new name

 

SAHARA Las Vegas has officially returned to the Las Vegas Strip.

The former SLS Las Vegas will now operate under the resort’s original, iconic brand name – SAHARA Las Vegas. Since Alex Meruelo purchased the property in April of last year, significant strides have been made in transforming the resort experience. Completed renovations within the $150 million resort overhaul include an updated casino floor featuring the stylish 24-hour CASBAR Lounge and the recently unveiled Infinity premium gaming lounge, renovated hotel rooms, suites and corridors, an upgraded spa and a soon-to-debut new hotel lobby. Major updates to the resort exterior continue as remodeling of the main porte cochère began earlier this week while a full renovation of the resort’s main pool is slated for later this fall. Additional updates include a refresh and new paint color for the building’s exterior along with soon-to-be installed marquee signage and lettering signaling the name change.

“The return of SAHARA Las Vegas to The Strip is significant for the city,” said Alex Meruelo, SAHARA Las Vegas owner. “The reimagining of this iconic resort will enable an enhanced guest experience that runs contrary to the megaresorts that have recently dominated the Las Vegas landscape. Now, nearly a year into the resort’s more than $150 million transformation, guests can expect even further additions and upgrades to the property’s physical structure and guest amenities. Anticipated enhancements to the resort’s award-winning culinary program include the addition of the popular Philadelphia Eagles restaurant partner Chickie’s and Pete’s as well as soon-to-be-announced, new-to-Las Vegas fine dining concepts. Further additions will be made to the property’s entertainment and nightlife lineup. Announcements regarding these changes will be made in the coming months.

Hotel
Debuting this fall, the new hotel lobby will offer top-tier guest amenities featuring state-of-the-art hotel registration systems and a well-appointed lounge. The exquisite modern design, with just a touch of nostalgia, includes floor inlays inspired by lamps from the original Sahara Hotel and Casino. A Starbucks will also open near registration this fall offering guests an assortment of specialty coffees and pastries.
Additional hotel enhancements include the redesign of the Blanca and Marra towers, which offer guests fully remodeled rooms as well as updated elevator lobbies and room corridors. Upgrades to the AAA Four Diamond Alexandria Tower include room enhancements and new services at the Amina Spa. The Alexandria Tower also offers a private valet entrance and dedicated hotel check-in.

Casino
The 60,000 square-foot casino floor received a remodeled design creating a bright, modern atmosphere with glamorous touches, a finished ceiling with upgraded lighting and new carpeting along with a new slot and table game layout. The addition of the stylish, 24-hour CASBAR lounge offers guests a selection of craft cocktails and inviting seating areas right off the casino floor, while Infinity, a sophisticated premium gaming lounge, appeals to the resort’s more serious gamers seeking a luxurious high-limit gaming experience. A new poker room, off the main casino floor, is expected to open later next year.

Pool & Nightclub
Following the end of the summer season, the main resort pool will close this fall. Nothing will be left untouched as the entire pool deck will receive a complete overhaul to create a new and compelling pool experience. The year-long project will also include the addition of a two-story 18,500 square-foot combination nightclub, lounge and theatrical space which will sit adjacent to the main pool.

UNLV Athletics partnered with world-renowned pricing expert from UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hospitality to set football season ticket prices in new $1.9 billion state-of-the-art stadium

 
UNLV Athletics has announced pricing of new 2020 season tickets for Rebel football games at Allegiant Stadium. 


Pricing for 2020 in the new $1.9 billion state-of-the-art stadium was based on surveys of the local market tracking gameday experience, ticket costs, concessions, parking and tailgating. The survey was sent to football event purchasers as well as UNLV alumni with an athletics affinity, located in the Las Vegas area. The results provided UNLV Athletics’ leadership with a better understanding of what the community values.

“This second wave of surveys allowed us to continue gathering information as we identify our place in the most competitive entertainment market in the world and strive towards one of our top priorities which is providing the best fan experience in the Mountain West Conference,” UNLV Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois said. “As has been our goal throughout this process, we want to be thoughtful and strategic in our transition into the new stadium. Our pricing model provides the Las Vegas community with affordable access to our new $1.9 billion home for Rebel football.”

To design the surveys, UNLV Athletics partnered and collaborated with Stowe Shoemaker, Dean of UNLV’s world-renowned William F. Harrah College of Hospitality. Dean Shoemaker has worked on pricing models for numerous Fortune 500 companies and is considered an expert in the space.

“Understanding the customer experience is absolutely essential to developing a pricing strategy that works,” said Shoemaker, “That’s what our college does best. Through rigorous research, we can help identify a model that provides fans with a great experience at a fair price.”

“Having someone as respected as Dean Shoemaker right here on campus is one of the advantages of being located in a city like Las Vegas and at a university like UNLV,” Reed-Francois added. “Stowe is a staple in this community and volunteered his services because he understands what this transition means not just for our athletics department, but for the entire university. 60-Minute Themed Escape Rooms Based on Favorite Fairytales: Neverland, Once Upon A Time, Rumplestiltskin, 7 Dwarfs & Arabian Nights

 

Once Upon an Escape, an immersive, enchanting experience, announces the grand opening of its fairytale-themed escape rooms this August. Players have 60 minutes to decipher clues, solve riddles and escape before the clock runs out in four adventurous rooms:  Neverland, Once Upon A Time, 7 Dwarfs & Arabian Nights, plus a five-minute power room, Rumplestiltskin. 

Aimed for adult fun, the rooms are age appropriate for ages 14+ (children are welcome with adult supervision) and ideal for both beginner and skilled escape enthusiasts.  The physically and mentally challenging rooms “lock” guests in a heavily themed room and the guests will use elements of the room to complete specified tasks within a set time limit.

The escape rooms were designed, built and are owned by the newlywed couple, often referred to as the “Charming Family,” Justice Carey and Kendra Daniels, reigning Miss Fabulous Las Vegas and popular Las Vegas vocalist. 

“I have always loved fairytales, and my husband and I are escape-room enthusiasts, so it is exciting to pair the two, and see our project come to life!” says Kendra Daniels, founder of Once Upon an Escape.   “My family and I are excited to introduce this fairytale-themed escape room experience to the community!”
 

The family affair includes daughter and sister, Brooke and Keira, who have also been assisting with the final magical artistic touches, along with Kendra’s mom, Kim Tuck, in the role of General Manager. “I am looking forward to welcoming our guests each day and offering them an enchanting experience,” says Tuck. 

Once Upon an Escape will offer supportive events for people with special needs, allowing families to bring their loved ones to enjoy the escape rooms in a comfortable, welcoming environment. The company mission is to donate a portion of the escape room proceeds to selected charities. Giving back to the community was inspired by Justice’s brother-in-law, Xander, age17, who is on the autism spectrum, and will be working alongside his mom and general manager, Kim Tuck.

Each private room is suitable for 2-6 players, is priced at $37/person, and features discounts for locals and military.   In addition to the adventurous rooms, Rumplestiltskin is a power room in which you have 5 minutes, 5 clues and is only $5 per person. 

Once Upon an Escape is also a fun, creative way to integrate corporate team building, as it enhances problem-solving skills, increases communication, and motivates team members.  Escape rooms can help foster respectful dialogue, a creative exchange of ideas, and encourage active listening.  

The five themed fairy tale escape rooms include:

Neverland: With a dash of pixie dust, soar through the London sky! Sneak up on Captain Hook’s ship and venture into the seemingly enchanting world of Neverland. But once there, you’ll need to save Wendy from the Lost Boys’ unruly grip! The clock is ticking. Outwit the crocodile and make your escape from the place where you never have to grow up!
Once Upon a Time: It seems as though Rumplestiltskin has stolen the fairytale artifacts. You must recover the artifacts and place them on the correct pedestals-if you are to escape the room in time. But beware-things are not always as they appear!
7 Dwarfs: The fairest one is in dire need! You must help the Seven Dwarfs undo the evil and bring back to life the fairest in the land! But be quick, before she’s gone forever!
Arabian Nights: In a far-off land, buried deep within a cave, lies a magic lamp capable of granting your every desire. But be warned! Once you have entered, attempting to leave without the lamp will result in your demise! Do you have what it takes to follow in the footsteps of the King of Thieves? Find the magic lamp and make your escape in time!
Rumplestiltskin: Five Dollars-Five Minutes-Five Clues! Can you handle the POWER Room? Rumplestiltskin is his name. The mystery at hand is his game. Solve the clues within for your enchanted life to begin! Will you escape in time or end up entrapped by his rhyme?
