CBS and the Academy of Country Music® today announced that reigning ACM® Entertainer of the Year and 15-time ACM Award®-winner Keith Urban will host the 55TH ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS™, Country Music’s Party of the Year®, honoring the biggest names and emerging talent in the Country Music industry. The awards show will be broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Sunday, April 5 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network and be available to stream live and on-demand across digital platforms on the CBS All Access subscription service. This will be Urban’s first time hosting the ACM Awards.

“As if having a new song out today wasn’t enough, I also get to host the ACM Awards in April,” said Urban. “I’ll tell you – this year already feels like the most creative and energized year of my life… and there’s so much more to come. Incredibly grateful – and ready to roll!”

“We are thrilled to have our reigning Entertainer of the Year as the centerpiece of our 55th ACM Awards ceremony. Keith epitomizes greatness in our industry, is beloved by fans and fellow artists, and I can’t think of a better representative to be the face of our Awards show and to help usher in a new era at the Academy,” said Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music.

“Keith Urban is the perfect choice to host the Academy of Country Music Awards,” said Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music & Live Events, CBS. “He’s an incredible musician, a respected and revered member of the Country Music community and the music community worldwide, and our viewers love him. 2020 is set to be a groundbreaking year of music for four-time GRAMMY® Award winner Keith Urban. Today, he releases a new single “God Whispered Your Name,” which is expected to be followed by several international releases before an album release later this year.  Three distinctive shows each with its own production and set list, will highlight Urban’s year on stage, including 14 concert events at Las Vegas’ prestigious Caesar’s Palace Colosseum, a European tour this May and select fairs and festivals later this summer.

While 2020 shapes up to be a big year for Urban, it follows one that saw him take home both the ACM and CMA Awards for Entertainer of the Year. He officially wrapped a nearly two-year stretch that began with the #1 simultaneous debut (U.S., Canada and Australia) of his ninth studio album, Graffiti U, and concluded his critically acclaimed “GRAFFITI U WORLD TOUR,” which played to more than one million fans in seven countries on three continents.

Graffiti U followed 2016’s Ripcord, which featured five #1 hits, including “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” which won Best Single at the 2017 CMA Awards and Favorite Country Song at the American Music Awards, where he also collected trophies for Favorite Country Album and Favorite Male Country Artist.

Urban has twice had an album simultaneously atop the all-genre charts in the U.S., Canada and Australia and is the only male Country artist to have achieved the mark.  He now stands at #8 on Billboard’s All-Time Country Airplay Chart as the artist with the most consecutive top 10 songs on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart (38) – a streak that started in August of 2000. Urban has won four Grammy Awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, 13 Country Music Association Awards, four People’s Choice Awards and four American Music Awards. Also, he is a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

The 55th ACM Awards will feature exciting performances, unprecedented collaborations, surprising moments and more to be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for the 55th ACM Awards are available for purchase now at ACMawards.com.

About Paradise Ranch Foundation:

Paradise Ranch Foundation was founded in 2011 with the mission to provide mental health services to families in need. They provide Horse Assisted Therapy (HAT) and Interactive Behavioral Therapy to all with a focus on children with autism and our veterans with Traumatic Brain injuries and  PTSD. It is well known, and research has proven that interactions with animals reduce stress, lower heart rates, and have an overall positive effect on mental health and emotional states. When we include a horse in our therapeutic sessions, they become a participating member of the therapy process. The horse is able to “tune in” to emotional states and recognize when the way you feel should be reinforced or reduced and the horse reacts accordingly.   HAT is beneficial for many health disorders from depression, anxiety, OCD, suicidal thoughts or other behavioral problems.  https://paradiseranchlv.com/paradise-ranch-foundation

Trumpeter and Vocalist Brian Newman Returns to NoMad Las Vegas for Late-Night Show

Trumpeter and Vocalist Brian Newman Returns to

NoMad Las Vegas for Late-Night Show

12 Dates Added in April and May; Tickets on Sale Now

Trumpeter and singer Brian Newman will bring his late-night show, Brian Newman: AFTER DARK, back to NoMad Las Vegas, the luxury resort experience located within Park MGM, for 12 dates in 2020.

Show Dates:

April 30

May 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16

Currently serving as the bandleader for the LADY GAGA JAZZ & PIANO resident show at Park Theater, Newman has created Brian Newman: AFTER DARK as an ode to vintage Las Vegas, providing guests a late-night rendezvous filled with great music, good friends and craft cocktails. Intimate evenings are filled with special guest performers from New York City, Las Vegas and beyond. Past guests have included  Lady Gaga, Ashanti, Jaclyn McSpadden of Postmodern Jukebox and Puddles Pity Party, among many others. Burlesque star and award-winning entertainer Angie Pontani is scheduled to perform with Newman April 30 – May 10.

Tickets starting at $65 including fees are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets or online at ticketmaster.com. Shows are scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. with the exception of performances on May 3, 7, 10 and 16 which are scheduled to begin at 11:30 p.m. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to attend.

Brian Newman: AFTER DARK has been described by the Las Vegas Review-Journal as “a next-level cool hangout,” and according to Billboard Magazine, the unique show “reimagines the classic Las Vegas lounge show.”

Newman has made a name for himself as a consummate entertainer on the New York City club circuit in recent years with extended engagements at The Oak Room, Birdland, The McKittrick Hotel and The Rose Bar. His recently released debut album SHOWBOAT proves that jazz isn’t what it used to be. The album provides Newman with the opportunity to break the art form out of its constraints, allowing the jazz influences of Miles Davis and Chet Baker to find room with his love of rock bands such as Nirvana, Beck and Thin Lizzy.

Newman recently co-produced the soundtrack version of “La Vie En Rose” for the film “A Star Is Born” with Lady Gaga and was her bandleader and trumpeter for the Cheek to Cheek project with Tony Bennett. Both albums debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart. They originally met in the downtown New York City club scene where Newman was a bartender and they discovered their shared love for jazz and tattoos (the two share the same tattoo on their right arms of Miles Davis’ trumpet taken from a sketch done by Tony Bennett).

Hailing from Cleveland, Newman played trumpet for his local high school jazz band, and honed his skills listening to his musical influences. He attended the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music but decided to end his formal training and move to New York City in 2003. During that time, he hustled for club gigs, recorded on hip-hop sessions and tended bar. His exposure to the music scene expanded and he landed a regular gig at Plaza Hotel’s famed Oak Room where Stefani Germanotta first heard him perform. Their friendship led to Brian’s involvement in the Cheek to Cheek project and the global world tour. His engaging stage persona, musical chops, suave suits and jazz/rock communion has created a unique sound and sensibility.

Barbra & Frank
Venue: Grand Events Center
Genre: Classic
Date: Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 at 8 p.m.
Ticket Prices: $15 plus applicable fees
Artist Info:  It is unlikely that the two powerhouse voices of the century would have ever shared the same stage…until now! They never worked together, exactly, except when they taped a duet in separate recording sessions, but it’s tantalizing to think what it would have been like to have Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra teamed up for a concert tour. Just imagine the possibilities. Would one have outshone the other? Would their onstage banter have been friendly or a bit snippy? In the Las Vegas Hit show, “Barbra and Frank”, the rapport of these two 20th century icons is immediately prevalent. “As good as the music is, the banter between the stars is equally memorable.” “The Concert That Never Was…” includes segments in which Streisand and Sinatra create masterful duets of “Somewhere”, “Something Stupid” and “New York New York”. A highlight of the show is a delicate blending of two of their signature songs as Sinatra croons verses from “It Was A Very Good Year” intertwined with Streisand’s memorable “The Way We Were”. Today, Sharon and Sebastian captivate audiences worldwide with their originally self-produced Las Vegas show that brings laughter, tears and joy to every person watching. Sebastian’s crooning sounds of Sinatra bring “memories” to an audience who remember the late great “ol’ blue eyes” himself. While the uncanny looks of Sharon brings out the Funny Girl herself, Streisand, does it the only way she knows how…Her Way.

SUNSET STATION

Edwin McCain
Venue: Club Madrid
Date: Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 at 8 p.m.
Ticket Prices: $32.50 plus applicable fees
Artist Info:  Called the “great American romantic” by the New York Times, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour.  His hit songs, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music and experiencing the success that comes with a television show on Animal Planet (Flipping Ships), McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights.

Those enduring love songs (and wedding must-haves) “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More” aren’t just for the romantic at heart; “American Idol” and “The Voice” contestants turn to Edwin’s ballads every single year to help them win over judges and fans alike (just ask last season’s AI winner, Nick Fradiani).  Even Justin Bieber has been known to belt out “I’ll Be” during his own concerts. 2018 marked the 20th year of the success of “I’ll Be,” which topped the Billboard charts in 1998 and has proven to be a timeless classic over the past two decades.

Once they began headlining in the States, Wishbone’s opening acts included Springsteen, Kiss and Aerosmith. Citing Wishbone Ash as an influence on their style, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Southern Rock outfits like Lynyrd Skynyrd and, more recently, heavyweights like Opeth and some of the guitar-based Indie/ Alternative bands, have all taken a little something from the legendary twin-guitar approach of Wishbone Ash.
