Limited tickets to the remaining two shows are available at www.Venetian.com
American icon Willie Nelson took the stage for an incredible opening night of “Willie Nelson & Family: Vegas On My Mind” at The Venetian Theatre inside The Venetian® Las Vegas on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
The sold-out show began at 8 p.m. as Nelson and his band walked out into the spotlight and opened with legendary songs “Whiskey River,” “Still Is Still Moving to Me” and “Beer for My Horses” while eager fans cheered with excitement. Nelson was joined on stage by band members Mickey Raphael on the harmonica, older sister Bobbie Nelson on the piano, Robert Paul English on drums, Billy English on drums and acoustic guitar and Kevin Smith on electric bass.
Shortly after, Nelson welcomed his youngest daughter, Amy Nelson, on stage for a surprise performance as they sang “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die,” “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” “I’ll Fly Away” and “I Saw the Light.” The crowd danced and sang along with the crooner as Nelson played on his famous guitar, Trigger.
During the performance, Nelson threw his bandana to one lucky fan and continued to interact with the crowd as he sang the classic ballad “Always On My Mind.”
At one point during the evening, Nelson addressed the audience and said, “Here’s one we haven’t ever done before on stage ever,” as he went on to perform “Still Not Dead Again Today” from his forthcoming album “God’s Problem Child.” Concertgoers roared as Nelson sang the opening lines, “I woke up still not dead again today, the internet said I had passed away.”
Nelson closed out the show with “Move It On Over” while thanking Las Vegas as the crowd stood up and cheered with excitement for the music legend.
The two remaining shows for “Willie Nelson & Family: Vegas on My Mind” take place at The Venetian Theatre on Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4. Limited tickets are on sale at www.Venetian.com.
