Blue Man Group welcomes students from Las Vegas’ After-School All-Stars for a special backstage tour from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4.

Students will be given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Blue Man Group as part of After-School All-Stars’ Media All-Stars Program. Members of Blue Man Group will be on hand to give a tour of the theatre including the stage, productions suites, props department, dressing room and wardrobe department. As a special treat, the students will be given lessons on how to properly play the drumbone, a unique instrument used during each performance.

Media All-Stars, one of several programs offered by After-School All-Stars, gives students the opportunity to explore careers in radio, television, film editing, advertising and more. The After-School All Stars program is committed to providing out-of-school activities for children, ages 5 -14. The program promotes academic and social achievement, confidence and self-esteem and currently serves more than 5,000 students in southern Nevada.

During this event, guests can meet Associate Winemaker for Freeman, Eric Buffington, and sample two of the vineyard’s wines:

Chardonnay, Ryo-Fu 2008: The 2008 Ryo-fu Chardonnay has much in common with the acclaimed 2006 vintage, echoing the same ripe, inviting aromas and the full, luscious palate that made the earlier version so sought-after. The ’08 Ryo-fu starts with a nose of baked apples, nutmeg, mangoes and almonds. Following these inviting aromas is a mouthfeel framed by good acidity, but dominated by ripe and delicious fruit. Even the well-integrated oak gets pushed into the finish behind the rich abundance on the palate. Available by the glass ($22) and bottle ($90) at Morels;

Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, 2008: As it seems to be almost every year, the 2008 Freeman Sonoma Coast is the darkest, most powerful and largest-framed of the Freeman lineup of four Pinot Noirs. The nose is dominated by spicy, slow-ripening Pinot Noir aromas, with hints of violets and roses. Though somewhat similar on the palate to the ’08 Russian River Valley bottling, the Sonoma Coast offers higher acidity and firmer tannins. Available by the glass ($22) and bottle ($90) at Morels.

Hip Hop sensation Kid Cudi is hitting the road this summer with The Cud Life Tour. He’ll be making a stop at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, June 24 and will be joined by special guest Chip Tha Ripper. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at noon.

Cudi’s first hit “Day N Nite” was inspired by the passing of his uncle and changed his life forever. Recorded in a pitch-black room, Cudi put his heart into the gloomy pop-hit. After posting it on his MySpace, the song started racking up hits and eventually caught the attention of A-Trak, Kanye West’s former tour DJ.

A-Trak fell in love with song, and Cudi ended up signing a single deal on the DJ’s “Fool’s Gold” label. A critically-acclaimed mixtape, presented by Pat and Emile and co-branded with NYC streetwear label 10 Deep called “A KiD Named CuDi” was the MC’s first full body of work, and released on July 17, 2008 . Things were looking up, but the game truly changed when A-Trak played “Day N Nite” at Kanye West’s “Stronger” premiere party. West loved the song,and saw enough potential in Cudi that he flew him out to Hawaii to do reference hooks for Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3. Soon, ‘Ye and Cudi started work on Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak album. Cudi’s sing-songy, eclectic style was the perfect match for 808s, and the up-and-comer ended up writing four songs (“Heartless,” “Paranoid,” “Welcome To Heartbreak,” and “Robocop”). With hype (and Kanye) behind him and a Billboard hit with “Day N Nite,” Cudi inked a deal with Kanye’s G.O.O.D music label. Soon after, he parlayed that into a major deal with Universal Motown.

On September 15, 2009, Kid Cudi released his debut album Man On The Moon: The End Of Day, a genre-bending concept album that took people through Scott Mescudi’s, aka Kid Cudi, dreams, nightmares, and unique views of the world. The album—which featured production from Emile, Plain Pat, RATATAT, MGMT and Kanye West—sold 104,419 copies its first week, good enough for #4 on the Billboard chart. The album’s reception, both critical and commercial, proved Universal Motown President Sylvia Rhone’s assertion that Cudi was a “game-changer in hip-hop”. Internationally-acclaimed producer and resident DJ for the weekly “Perfecto Vegas” party at Rain Nightclub, Paul Oakenfold and Executive Chef Geno Bernardo hosted a unique cooking class at Nove Italiano inside Palms Casino Resort on Saturday, April 30.

Before his days behind the DJ booth, Oakenfold was a professional chef in the kitchen, and Oakenfold showed guests he still had it as he used his culinary skills alongside Chef Geno. Guests learned step-by-step instructions on how to make five courses, including signature items from Nove’s menu such as Shrimp Francaise and a British tradition and one of Oakenfold’s favorite, the Sunday Roast. Throughout the class, patrons sipped on the Luxury Drop cocktail, featuring Don Julio and fresh cucumber juice, created by Mixologist Jack “Sugar” O’Brien. Participants indulged in the five courses as they enjoyed the atmosphere in the main dining room. To complete the experience, guests enjoyed savory Apple Pie, created by Executive Pastry Chef Victor Solano.

With Chef Hubert Keller May 13

Vegas PBS hosts an exclusive cooking demonstration with celebrity Chef Hubert Keller at Vegas PBS’ Educational Technology Campus at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13.

The demonstration is open to the public with a $365 donation to Vegas PBS. Donation includes entry for two people to the event, one Cuisinart Elite Collection food processor and an autographed copy of Chef Keller’s “Burger Bar” cookbook. The event will take place at Chef Keller’s custom kitchen television set, where he recently recorded the third season of his highly successful cooking show, Hubert Keller: Secrets of a Chef. He has written two cookbooks and will publish his third in 2012. AFAN’s living dessert table, which was topped with BRIO’s signature desserts, was a hit with partygoers.

Celebrating the opening of its second Las Vegas location, BRIO Tuscan Grille inside Tivoli Village at Queensridge partnered with Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) to host a charity reception, which raised $8,000 in ticket and raffle sales to help AFAN’s fight against HIV/AIDS on Wednesday, April 27.

More than 400 guests were treated to the beautiful Tuscan inspired décor of the new restaurant as well as signature menu items at stations located throughout the restaurant. Providing guests with a variety of appetizers to enjoy, Executive Chef Chris Horning dished up small plates, which included BRIO crab and shrimp cakes, beef carpaccio, displayed on marble sheets, a variety of margherita and BBQ chicken flatbread pizzas, the crisp field of greens salad as well as the ravioli caprese. BRIO also offered guests various complimentary martinis, which are served on Thursday nights at $5 martini night starting at 4 p.m.

Patrons enjoyed the sounds of local musician, Jeremy James, who played a selection of 90’s tunes on the outdoor patio while guests relaxed and took in the stunning atmosphere. AFAN’s living dessert table was also a crowd pleaser at the event. The moveable display captured the attention of the attendees as it had a center cut out for the beautiful model to stand throughout the night to entertain and assist patrons with choosing one of BRIO’s desserts to sample.

At the end of the reception, AFAN representatives announced the winners of the raffle prizes. Guests had the opportunity throughout the night to purchase $5 raffle tickets to win amazing prizes, which included a spa package from Ritual Salon & Spa, a semester of classes from Kidville, tickets to Penn & Teller and lunch and dinner at BRIO for a year.

Actor Charlie Sheen ended at eventful night in Las Vegas at Sugar Factory American Brasserie (http://www.sugarfactory.com/) at Paris Las Vegas. The winning warlock and his goddess, Natalie Kenly, were seen noshing on Nutella pancakes, cookies and milk, BLT crepes and chocolate milkshakes until 7 a.m. Sunday morning. During their early morning meal, Sheen handed out baseball caps with “WINNING” displayed across the top to fans.

The hilarious cast of MTV’s “The Hard Times of RJ Berger” kicked off their wrap party for the success of their second season at Sugar Factory American Brasserie at Paris Las Vegas on Saturday night. Paul Iacono, Amber Lancaster, Jareb Dauplaise, Jayson Blair and Kara Taitz had a feast of New York strip steak, roasted chicken, bruschetta and salmon before being presented with over-the-top red velvet and cookie jar ice cream sundaes. The actors also made sure to stop in Sugar Factory’s flagship retail store. Iacono loved the dark chocolate-covered peanuts and Lancaster picked up tons of milk chocolate-covered gummy bears.

Also dining at Sugar Factory American Brasserie last night was “True Blood” werewolf, Joe Manganiello. The hunky actor enjoyed the mouth-watering fried chicken and waffles with fiancé Audra Marie, followed by a red velvet ice cream sundae and milkshakes. After dinner, he picked up Black Onyx and piña colada Couture Pops from the adjoining retail store.

Also spotted at the celeb hot spot were NFL star Reggie Bush, Jack Osbourne and 2007 Playboy Playmate of the Year, Sara Underwood.

The beautiful Dania Ramirez dined at Sugar Factory American Brasserie (http://www.sugarfactory.com/) last night with a small table of friends. The HBO “Entourage” actress munched on spinach artichoke dip, New York strip steak, asparagus and roasted chicken. Following dinner, she indulged in a red velvet sundae and ‘Fluffer Nutter’ peanut butter milkshake. After dessert, Ramirez and friends picked up a few sweet treats: sour gummy worms, gum balls, Couture Pops and plenty of blue raspberry sour belts at the Sugar Factory flagship store.

Also dining at Sugar Factory American Brasserie was funny man, David Spade. Spade enjoyed shrimp cocktail and four-cheese pizza during his meal and ordered Sugar Factory’s ‘Going Bananas’ goblet cocktail to sip on.

Sugar Factory American Brasserie is an American take on a traditional French brasserie, serving delicious cuisine all day, and all night, along with an oversized retail store and signature Chocolate Lounge. Other Sugar Factory retail stores are located at The Mirage and Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.

Danzig with DevilDriver and 2Cents Concert at House Of Blues Las Vegas Review

Another great show at the House of Blues Las Vegas Friday night 5-29-2011. Malibu Cailfornia’s metal band 2Cents got the evening stared at around 6:30. They played a fast and furious set and you can tell that they love what they’re doing. This is the second time I’ve seen them at the House of Blues Las Vegas and they are one of my Favorite opening acts.

The second act was Santa Barbara California’s groove metal band Devildriver. My son and I really like this band and they are the real reason we were there. Their recent CD Beast was in my car quite a while a couple of weeks ago and I like its hard hitting sound. Vocalist Dez Fafara impresses me with his ability to carry a scream note a looooong time and also his hard sound. The band is tight and sounds equally as well live. Their set was shorter than I would have liked but was great sounding and the pit was a lot of fun.

What can you say about headliner Danzig. Glen Danzig has been around forever and the crowd was really into the act and interacting with him. Glen knows how to work an audience. He’s still pretty buff and his band sounds terrific.His set list was long and included all the fan favorites.His voice is still very powerfull. Suprisingly security was very tight not allowing any photography and I only got a couple pictures. Danzig puts on a great show

All in all it was yet another House of Blues Las Vegas classic night and I love going to see shows there. Can’t wait until the next one.

DREW LACHEY DINES AT SUGAR FACTORY AMERICAN BRASSERIE AT PARIS LAS VEGAS

Drew Lachey, of the band 98 Degrees and winner of the second season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” enjoyed an early dinner with his wife and their young children at Sugar Factory American Brasserie at Paris Las Vegas last night. The family enjoyed ahi and beef sliders, ham and cheese crepes and turkey burgers, followed by Sugar Factory’s signature Cookie Jar ice cream sundae and root beer float for dessert. After their meal, the happy family stopped into Sugar Factory’s retail store and filled up on licorice bites, Reese’s peanut butter cups and gummy worms before heading out to enjoy the rest of their evening.
