The country’s leading food, wine and spirits festival, Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit returns May 10–13 with an extraordinary lineup of world-renowned chefs, master sommeliers and cutting-edge mixologists from Caesars Palace, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, The Cromwell, MGM Resorts International, The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas.   • Master Series: An Anniversary Celebration at Nobu (Caesars Palace), Thursday, May 10: Journey inside legendary Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s expansive Las Vegas destination restaurant to celebrate five successful years of one of the largest Nobu restaurants in the world inside his first Nobu Hotel. Born in Japan, Chef Matsuhisa has used his travels around the globe to create both authentic and inventive Japanese-fusion cuisine. Lucky guests will have the chance to sample a wide variety of dishes and multiple live action stations.


  • Master Series: Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN (Caesars Palace), Thursday, May 10: Join multi Michelin star award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay at his newest restaurant, HELL’S KITCHEN at Caesars Palace. Inspired by the globally-popular FOX television show, Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN provides guests a dining experience unlike any other. Guests will get to experience signature dishes seen on the show, including Ramsay’s famous Beef Wellington, paired with carefully crafted cocktails. With the blue and red kitchen as the focal point of the restaurant, guests will have a front row seat to the action and may even see a few HELL’S KITCHEN familiar faces.   • Master Series: Rao’s Remembers Frank Sr. (Caesars Palace), Thursday, May 10: Rao’s has stood the test of time and is still widely regarded as one of the hardest reservations to land. Hosted by Rao’s owners Frank Pellegrino Jr. and Ron Straci, this dinner invites guests to remember the late Frank Pellegrino Sr. The evening will celebrate his life and feature some of Frank Sr.’s favorite dishes from time-honored Italian staples to classics that are uniquely Rao’s like their famous lemon chicken.   • The Chefs of Thomas Keller Present a French Soiree (The Venetian Las Vegas), Thursday, May 10: Thomas Keller’s chefs from his award-winning restaurants Ad Hoc and Bouchon will host a night of food, wine, and fun at Bouchon.   • A CUT Above the Rest: The Ultimate Steak & Eggs Breakfast at CUT by Wolfgang Puck (The Palazzo Las Vegas), Friday, May 11: For the first time ever, the award-winning CUT by Wolfgang Puck will prepare an exclusive steak and eggs breakfast—only for guests at Vegas Uncork’d.   • This Is How We Do It: The Cake Boss and Lisa Valastro Demo and Lunch (The Venetian Las Vegas) Friday, May 11: Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro will be joined by his wife Lisa for a mouthwatering lunch and cake demo at Buddy’s restaurant at The Venetian. Guests will have an opportunity to mingle with Buddy and Lisa and sample some of her own recipes that have appeared in both Buddy’s wildly successful and critically-acclaimed cookbooks, as well as on the menus at Buddy V’s Ristorante. Let’s Get Cooking with the 2015 MGM Resorts International Recipe Showdown

Meeting Planners, Travel Professionals and Leisure Partners Compete for Prizes and Bragging Rights

 Back for a second consecutive year, the MGM Resorts International Recipe Showdown is expanding to 16 cities across the U.S. and Canada, and this year it’s open to travel professionals in addition to meeting planners.

The initial showdown was a success with meeting planners in 12 cities dishing up best-kept secret recipes for a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas, prepare their dishes in front of celebrity chef judges including award-winning chef Julian Serrano, and enjoy a special private performance by The Mirage headliner Terry Fator.  Only one could prevail as the first-ever winner of this competition and that honor went to Melissa Moskal, creative manager at Prime Strategies in Vancouver, Canada, who wowed the judges with Melissa’s Marvelous Moussaka.

Now is the time to start sifting through those kitchen drawers for that favorite family recipe. Winners of each city showdown will be whisked away to Las Vegas in October for the national finals and compete for the honor, prizes and bragging rights of being the 2015 MGM Resorts International Recipe Showdown winner!  The 16 finalists will prepare their dishes in front of a live audience cheering on their picks.

The city showdowns begin in June and go through September where one winner will emerge from each location.

Prizes include fabulous Vegas vacations with fine dining options and limo transportation.

Once the first whistle blows to signal the start of the highly anticipated World Cup, visitors and locals alike can choose from a power shot of celebratory offerings at MGM Resorts restaurants. Talented chefs and bartenders from, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, Luxor and Excalibur have created victorious fare and libations made for titleholders.

The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair returns to The Palazzo® Las Vegas on Thursday, May 22. Food Festival Starts Strong with Sold-Out Event at ARIA Resort & Casino

Culinary superstars took over ARIA Resort & Casino last night for the 4th Annual FOOD & WINE All-Star Weekend’s sold out “First Course” kick-off event. 

View Bar, the AAA Five Diamond resort’s main lobby bar, was swarmed with award-winning chefs, sommeliers and mixologists including ARIA’s Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Masa Takayama, Julian Serrano, Shawn McClain, Sirio Maccioni, Marco Maccioni, Anthony Amaroso, Craig Schoettler and Kim Wood; MGM Grand Chefs Joël Robuchon, Steve Benjamin, Claude Le-Tohic, Heather Zheng, Scott Irestone, Steve Barr, Vincenzo Scarmiglia, Heath Cicerelli, Ho Chee Boon and Anthony Schutz; and Bellagio’s Akira Back, Jason Smith, Hiew Gun Khong, Ricardo Murcia and Patrick Lee.

The gastronomic icons took photos and mingled with the guests, while nibbling on delicious selections from ARIA’s extraordinary restaurants. Shawn McClain’s ASage served up Kushi Oyster with aged tequila Mignonette and tobacco pearls; Crispy Meyer Lemon Risotto with whipped triple crème; Braised Veal Cheeks with bone marrow flan and smoked polenta and Absinthe Macaroons for dessert.

Guests raved over the offerings from Julian Serrano’s eponymous ARIA restaurant, including Bomba, a spicy meatball made with Veal & Pork tenderloin; Rabo de Toro, created with Oxtail, Iberian pork and creamy mashed potatoes; and Coca Vegetarian, a Spanish Pizza with aioli, tomato, onion and pisto.

Masa Takayama wowed the crowd with his incredible Sushi Canape made with truffles, Tuna Toro Caviar and Oyster Shooters soaked in cucumber cilantro vinaigrette.

Champagne glasses were filled with 2004 Moet & Chamdon, 2004 Veuve Cliquot Rose and 2004 Dom Perignon. Guests could also try a selection of ARIA’s signature cocktails, including “A Vegas Sunset,” mixed with Grey Goose Cherry Noir, house made grenadine and orange, or a Martini created with Bombay Sapphire, Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth and house orange bitters.

The second annual FOOD & WINE All-Star Weekend took place on FRIDAY, October 21 with a star-studded red carpet.

We had the pleasure to meet and take pictures of Gail Simmons and other celebrity chefs and epicurean icons! They included Michael Mina, Julian Serrano, Masayoshi Takayama and Shawn McClain in addition to Top Chef alumni Stephanie Izard, Angelo Sosa, Hosea Rosenberg, Yigit Pura and Sam Talbot.

This Red Carpet event was a lot of fun and well organized! One of the few that started on time! All the chef and epicurean icons seemed to be having fun getting their pictures taken. I did get a chance to talk to Top Chef alumni Angelo Sosa. He is super nice and was easy to talk to. He said is restaurant in New York Social Eatz is doing very well. He is in the process of opening a restaurant in California. I did ask if he planned on anything for Vegas he said “Yes in the next two years”! Angelo also has a cook book coming out in March that he is very excited about and so am I! I have been a fan of Top Chef since it started and Angelo was my favorite!  I did have to check out the jeans that they mention in the show. Yes ladies they are as they mention!
