The UNLV men’s basketball team, which had its three-game win streak snapped with a heartbreaking one-point loss Saturday vs. San Diego State, will travel to Reno, Nevada, to face No. 12/13 UNR on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. at Lawlor Events Center. The game is part of The Silver State Series presented by IBEW and Nevada Donor Network.
Prior to the 60-59 loss to the Aztecs at the Thomas & Mack Center, the Runnin’ Rebels (15-12, 9-6) had defeated Air Force, San Jose State and Wyoming, and enter Wednesday’s contest having won four of their last six. UNLV is currently in fifth place in the Mountain West standings and its nine conference victories are its most since winning 10 league games in 2014.
UNR (25-2, 12-2) is coming off a 74-68 home win over Fresno State on Saturday. The Wolf Pack rebounded after having their 10-game win streak snapped at San Diego State (65-57) last Wednesday. UNR currently holds a half-game lead in the league standings.
In the previous meeting this season between UNLV and the Wolf Pack, UNR won 87-70 at the Thomas & Mack Center on Jan. 29. Senior guard Kris Clyburn led the Runnin’ Rebels in that game with 23 points on 10 of 20 shooting. UNR was led that night by Caleb Martin’s 26 points.
Wednesday’s game will be televised by CBS Sports Network with Andrew Catalon and Steve Lappas calling the action.
