Auditions for Rock n’ Roll Impersonator Minister Roles To Be Held May 4
KISS By Monster Mini Golf is calling all rock n’ roll impersonators who “think they’re sexy” and “have the moves like Jagger” to “express themselves” during auditions to join the minister lineup for the LOVE IT LOUD Rock & Roll Wedding Chapel. The venue already has KISS impersonators covered, but is looking to add iconic rock n’ roll impersonators such as: Madonna, Prince, Mick Jagger, Cyndi Lauper, ZZ Top, Billy Idol, Elvis, Joan Jett, Twisted Sister, Steve Tyler, Axl Rose, and more.

 

Auditions will be held Wednesday, May 4 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. on the Masquerade Stage at the Masquerade Village inside The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Applicants should come in costume, prepared to perform a mock wedding ceremony approx. 5 minutes in length.

 

KISS impersonators need not apply as those slots are already taken. Applicants do not have to be ordained, though ordained ministers will naturally have more opportunities. However, non-ordained ministers will be able to perform wedding vow renewals and non-legal binding ceremonies.

’Tis the season for holiday employment and Workforce Connections, along with Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly, want to make sure job seekers, specifically young adults, are aware of available opportunities.

Together, they are hosting a special Holiday Hiring Event on Thursday, November 5 at 9 a.m. at Workforce Connections, 6330 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 150, Las Vegas, NV 89146.

Goodwill of Southern Nevada will hold a major hiring event, featuring more than 80 employers actively hiring on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at The Boulevard Mall, located at 3528 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89169.  The event, sponsored by Bank of America, will take place near MundoFOX studios.

While the hiring event is open to the general public, veterans and immediate family members of veterans are strongly encouraged to attend.  In addition to meeting employers face to face, veterans and other job seekers can sign up onsite for Goodwill’s no-cost job and placement services.

“This is not an ‘information only’ hiring event.  Every single employer who will be at this event is currently hiring,” said Elizabeth McDaniels, Goodwill of Southern Nevada director of mission services.  “In addition, many of these employers are actively looking to hire veterans because of their work ethic, dedication and experiences.”

Interviews will be done onsite for many of the open job positions.  Job seekers should dress professionally, bring several copies of their resumes and reference information.

The hiring event is an extension of Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s Veteran Integration Program, or VIP, which offers specific job placement programs to veterans and their immediate family members, in addition to veteran employment specialists who can provide peer-to-peer assistance. This program was recently awarded Bank of America’s prestigious Neighborhood Builder grant of $200,000 to grow such vital services for veterans. 

Since its inception in late 2012, Goodwill’s VIP has helped nearly 600 veterans and immediate family members secure employment in Southern Nevada.

Goodwill to Open New Flagship Store at The Boulevard Mall

The Location will Create 50 Full-Time Jobs

Goodwill of Southern Nevada will open its largest store in the nonprofit’s 40 year history in Las Vegas as one of the retail anchors at the newly renovated Boulevard Mall, located at 3528 S. Maryland Parkway in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 28,000 square-foot store will be located in the former site of Dillard’s, and features a 17,000 square-foot sales floor that will be stocked with men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, purses, jewelry, kitchen goods, accessories, furniture, art and much more.

The new Goodwill store is slated to open late summer 2015 and will create fifty full-time jobs in Southern Nevada. A donation center is already in place and operating at the entrance off Maryland Parkway.

“This is a perfect partnership,” said Alyn Reeves, Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s Chief Operating Officer. “Our Goodwill store will bring jobs, value, and a family friendly shopping experience to one of the most iconic shopping malls in Las Vegas. This is an incredible opportunity for our shoppers, as well as the people we serve.”

Opening new stores is vital to the nonprofit, as sales of donated items fund Goodwill’s mission of helping members of the community find employment, no matter circumstance or disability.

In 2014, Goodwill of Southern Nevada helped a record 2,361 people in Southern Nevada get jobs, and provided training, job search and other supportive services to more than 12,800 individuals, at no cost.

The opening of this new store at The Boulevard Mall is part of an unprecedented expansion for the nonprofit. This year, Goodwill of Southern Nevada is slated to open five new retail stores and donation centers.

A new Goodwill Store at American Pacific and Stephanie opened in March (relocated from a previous, smaller location). Three other brand new Goodwill stores at Lake Mead Blvd & Civic Center, Silverado & Bermuda, and Durango & Deer Springs are currently under construction, with opening dates to be announced soon. Groundbreakings for two of these stores occurred October 2014.

In all, the expansions will create around 150 new jobs in Southern Nevada.

On site interviews will be conducted and candidates must bring a complete resume to be considered for the following positions:

Ride Maintenance Technician – Position will report to SlotZilla Ride Maintenance Department Manager and Supervisors. Interested candidates should be able to: work from Ride Maintenance and Operational manuals; perform routine and as-needed maintenance and inspections; trouble-shoot various ride elements (i.e. limit switches, proximity sensors, pneumatic actuators, push button assemblies, etc.); perform general maintenance of facility (i.e. lighting repair, bulb maintenance and painting). Ability to work at heights and in the elements.

Ticket Office Sales Staff – Position will report to SlotZilla Office Department Manager and Supervisors and will work in the following areas: door greeting, assisting guests at self-service ticketing kiosks, ticketing and merchandise sales, wrist banding, cash handling, cleaning and other office related tasks. Job duties include and are not limited to: handling monetary transactions; securing and balancing money drawer; welcoming guests in a friendly and cheerful manner; assisting multiple guests with transactions at self-service ticketing kiosks.

Ride Operator – Positions reports to SlotZilla Operations Manager and Supervisors and will work in the following areas: SlotZilla launch tower, mid-landing platform, end-landing platform, the mall area and daily tower inspections. Job duties include and are not limited to: transporting harnesses from landing platforms back to launch tower; safely assisting guests with the zipline harness; informing guests of critical safety instructions; loading guests onto zipline cables and safely inspecting readiness for travel; assisting in morning operational checks; cleaning of all platforms, staircases and handrails as needed.

This pre-Veterans Day hiring event is an extension of Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s Veteran Integration Program, or VIP.  Since its inception in 2012, Goodwill’s VIP has helped nearly 500 veterans and immediate family members secure employment in Southern Nevada. 

Although veterans posses many valuable employment skills such as leadership, teamwork, self-discipline and a great work ethic, many returning service members have trouble translating their military experience into civilian terms and face other employment difficulties.  Nevada consistently ranks among the top states when it comes to veterans who are unemployed. 

Each of the 60+ employers attending the hiring event have open job positions they are currently hiring for.  Job seekers should bring a photo ID, DD214 (or other proof of service) and current resume.

Qualified Candidates to be Interviewed On-Site for Hundreds of Available Jobs

Workforce ConnectionsOne-Stop Career Center will hold its second annual Nevada Day Super Hiring Event on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the One-Stop Career Center located at 6330 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 190 (Charleston & Torrey Pines).

More than two dozen employers with hundreds of open positions will be interviewing potential hires on-site during the event.  Like all job placement and training services offered at the One-Stop Career Center, there is no cost to the job seeker or employer.

Our mission is to provide Southern Nevadans the resources they need to become gainfully employed and connect them to a ready workforce,” said Ardell Galbreth, Workforce Connections Executive Director. We believe Nevada is a great place to live and work.

Based on last years attendance, more than 750 job seekers are expected to attend the Nevada Day Super Hiring Event and are encouraged to bring several resumes and dress professionally. 

Due to the popularity of the hiring event and to ensure employers are face-to-face with qualified candidates, all applicants will be pre-screened prior to seeing an employer. 

Walk-ins are welcome the day of the event.  However, to expedite the pre-screening process and minimize wait time, job seekers are strongly encouraged to apply for open job positions starting TODAY at www.nvcareercenter.org.

Job seekers who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to attend one of the pre-screening interview sessions held at 9 a.m. every Thursday in October leading up to the event – October 2, October 9, October 16 and October 23.   

Qualified candidates will then be scheduled for an in-person interview on October 29, 2014.  Job seekers who have been unemployed for six months or longer and have exhausted their unemployment benefits may be eligible for additional paid on-the-job training opportunities.

 Upcoming road construction projects funded by the Fuel Revenue Index and other road construction projects throughout Southern Nevada will translate into new careers for thousands of Southern Nevadans, if they are adequately trained and prepared for those opportunities.

About the Fuel Revenue Index: The Clark County Board of Commissioners approved an ordinance in September 2013 that will index the fuel tax to inflation in Clark County, generating up to $700 million in bonding capacity. This revenue will fund 185 regionally and locally significant transportation projects throughout Southern Nevada and create thousands of jobs starting in spring 2014.  Indexing fuel revenues is the practice of tying the fuel tax to the rate of inflation to provide funds for transportation infrastructure projects. The Fuel tax is a common phrase describing the amount we all pay when we buy gas to fill-up our cars, busses and trucks. The ordinance went into effect Jan. 1, 2014 and will last through Dec. 31, 2016, resulting in an approximate three-cent increase per gallon of gas per year. As a result, the annual impact to an average driver in Southern Nevada equates to roughly a dime a day over the next three years.
