Parks Open May 26, 4-8pm

Two of the best places to cool off in the Las Vegas area – Cowabunga Bay and Cowabunga Canyon – officially open for the summer waterpark season Saturday, May 28 when families can enjoy twisting raft rides, winding tube slides and other popular attractions along with strolling entertainers, live music and giveaways galore through Memorial Day.

At the newly named Cowabunga Canyon, formerly Wet ‘n’ Wild, opening weekend is all about the fun of the American west. Kids will receive free bandanas and
sheriff badges upon arrival and themed settings throughout the park will provide the perfect backdrops for fun western-style photo opps.

Western-attired stilt walkers and roller skater actors will keep guests entertained throughout the day while families will enjoy a mini-train ride around the park, children’s petting zoo, morning DJ and an evening country band on the main stage. Cowabunga Canyon, fresh off a multi-million dollar offseason improvement program, is located at 7055 S. Fort Apache Road near Warm Springs Road.

In Henderson, Cowabunga Bay’s Kick-Off to Summer Bash will fill the popular waterpark with vintage beach party vibes reminiscent of the days when families rushed to the beach for the official start of summer. Whimsical roller skater performers will greet guests, kids will receive free beach balls and sunglasses upon entry and a fun, themed photo backdrop will make everyone think you’ve gone to the beach. DJ and live music sounds will add to the beach party vibe.

This year, for the first time families can purchase a Cowabunga Vegas Pass providing unlimited entry into both waterparks. Perks include free parking at both parks;15-percent off food, non-alcoholic drinks, and retail purchases; and discounted guest tickets. Season pass holders also will enjoy priority early entry and the convenience of cashless pay wristbands for in-park use.

Combined, the two waterparks span 45 acres with more than 50 raft rides, tube slides and free-fall body slides. For season passes, day tickets, cabana rentals and group information, go to
