Boise State comes into the bowl at 10-2 overall and ranked 19th in the final BCS Standings. Combined with three losses to the Rebels in the early mid-1970s, Boise State brings in an overall record of 3-3 in Las Vegas.
University of Washington, which was ranked 25th in the BCS Standings in mid-November, will make its first-ever appearance in Nevada. playing in its 33rd bowl game overall. The Huskies hold an all-time mark of 16-15-1 in bowls, dating back to their first appearance in 1924, a 14-14 tie with Navy in the Rose Bowl. This will mark the second time UW faces a team that is currently a member of the Mountain West as the Huskies lost 45-25 to Air Force in the 1998 Oahu Bowl when the Falcons were part of the WAC.
This is only the second meeting of the two teams as Washington defeated Boise State, 24-10, on Sept. 8, 2007, at Husky Stadium to end the Broncos’ nation-leading 14-game winning streak.
