Fans Are Invited to Join the Free Pre-Game Event

Fremont Street Experience will host the official MAACO Bowl Las Vegas XXI Pep Rally on Friday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. This year’s battle features a perennially ranked team facing a first time visitor. Fans and alumni are encouraged to cheer on their favorite during a free Pep Rally with the Boise State Broncos and University of Washington Huskies coaches, school bands, cheerleaders and mascots. Fans can join in on the pre-game excitement during the Pep Rally with interactive contests, a battle of the bands and performances from the cheerleaders. The Pep Rally will take place on Fremont Street Experience’s 1st Street Stage, next to Golden Nugget Las Vegas and Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel.

Boise State looks to become the first team to go 3-0 in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl this year as the Broncos defeated Utah in 2010 and Arizona State in 2011. Boise State comes into the bowl at 10-2 overall and ranked 19th in the final BCS Standings. Combined with three losses to the Rebels in the early mid-1970s, Boise State brings in an overall record of 3-3 in Las Vegas.

University of Washington, which was ranked 25th in the BCS Standings in mid-November, will make its first-ever appearance in Nevada. playing in its 33rd bowl game overall. The Huskies hold an all-time mark of 16-15-1 in bowls, dating back to their first appearance in 1924, a 14-14 tie with Navy in the Rose Bowl. This will mark the second time UW faces a team that is currently a member of the Mountain West as the Huskies lost 45-25 to Air Force in the 1998 Oahu Bowl when the Falcons were part of the WAC.

This is only the second meeting of the two teams as Washington defeated Boise State, 24-10, on Sept. 8, 2007, at Husky Stadium to end the Broncos’ nation-leading 14-game winning streak.

The MAACO Bowl Las Vegas, which is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television will broadcast nationally Thursday, Dec. 22 at 12:30 PST on ESPN and WatchESPN.
