Las Vegas Natural History Museum to Debut New Name at 34th Anniversary Celebration on July 12
Museum rebrands to Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum, enhances educational programming and exhibits to feature more science in addition to natural history
The Las Vegas Natural History Museum announces two upcoming events celebrating its 34th anniversary and unveiling its new identity as Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum. In partnership with the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, the museum will host an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. to celebrate its new name and commemorate over three decades of educational excellence in Southern Nevada. On Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the community is invited to attend the museum’s mad scientist-themed birthday celebration, marking a renewed commitment to hands-on educational programs, dynamic exhibits, and accessible learning experiences in science and natural history.
“As the museum marks its 34th anniversary, I’m proud to reflect on how far we’ve come—from humble beginnings to being named Best of Las Vegas 2024 for museums, our journey has truly been remarkable,” said Laurie Thomas, Executive Director. “With our new name, the Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum, we’re enhancing our offerings to feature more dynamic science activities and exhibits for the Las Vegas community. We look forward to continuing to serve our community and inspire curiosity for years to come.”
Designed to spark creativity, exploration, and community connection as the museum enters its next chapter, the July 12 celebration will feature interactive activities throughout the day, including LEGO building, a fossil dig with take-home treasures (limit two per guest), a variety of hands-on science experiments, and a coloring station hosted by Clark County Department of Family Services.
The birthday celebration and all activities are included with regular museum admission or membership. RSVPs are encouraged.
