LADY REBELS SIGN ONGOLEA AFU TO 2025-26 ROSTER

The 5-foot-11 forward will become a Lady Rebel after playing two seasons at Murray State College

UNLV women’s basketball has received a signed commitment from Ongolea Afu to join the Lady Rebels for the 2025-26 season, head coach Lindy La Rocque announced today.

“Lea brings toughness and consistency to our program,” said La Rocque. “We’re excited about her relentless rebounding and her ability to produce offensively night in and night out—averaging a double-double speaks for itself. She embodies the hard-working, winning mindset that defines our championship culture. We’re proud to welcome Lea and her family to Rebel Nation!”

Afu, a 5-foot-11 forward from Sandy, Utah, started her collegiate career at Murray State College and averaged a double-double of 12.5 points per game and 11.4 rebounds per game through two seasons. During her freshman campaign, Afu averaged a double-double of 12.8 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game. Last season, Afu had another double-double year of 12.2 points per game and 12.8 rebounds per game, which was third in the country in rebounding. She dished out 49 assists and tallied 47 steals on the season. Afu closed out her NJCAA campaign being named the Region 2 Most Valuable Player (MVP) and a Region 2 first team nod. Additionally, in her sophomore season, she was a two-time Region 2 Player of the Week.

Afu joins Mariah Elohim, Trystan James, Hodaya Kabada and Alexis Swillis as incoming players for the Lady Rebels for the 2025-26 season.
