MIRACLE MILE SHOPS COLLECTS GENTLY-USED SUITS FOR UNITED WAY
OF SOUTHERN NEVADA 10/22 – 11/1
From Oct. 22 to Nov. 1, Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino hosts a suit drive in conjunction with United Way of Southern Nevada’s Women’s Leadership Council’s 5th Annual Fall Suit Drive, as part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing community campaign.
Those wishing to donate new and gently-used women’s suits and professional attire may drop them off during normal business hours at the Miracle Mile Shops customer service desk operated by Tickets & Tours. The drive helps women prepare for career opportunities and gain confidence to succeed during an interview and in the workplace.
Donations will benefit United Way accredited agencies with back to work programs for women. The agencies include Goodwill Career Connections, HopeLink, S.A.F.E. House, Safe Nest, The Shade Tree, Women’s Development Center and HELP of Southern Nevada’s Work Opportunities Readiness Center. All suit donors will receive a Miracle Mile Shops Shop. Dine. Save coupon book valued at $2,000.
In addition to the suit drive, Miracle Mile Shops will collect donations in its fountain during the month of November. All change tossed in the popular water feature or the indoor rainstorm will benefit United Way of Southern Nevada.
The partnership between Miracle Mile Shops and United Way of Southern Nevada is part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing campaign, celebrating a year of change in 2012. In addition to the monthly fountain fundraisers, the Caring, Giving, Changing campaign also raises funds for other programs and organizations through community sponsorships, additional partnerships and a number of cash and in-kind donations. In previous months Miracle Mile Shops has teamed up with the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® (October), Shriners Hospitals For Children (September), Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson (August), Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Las Vegas (July), Aid For AIDS of Nevada (June), Communities In Schools of Nevada (May), Autism Speaks (April), National Multiple Sclerosis Society (March), American Heart Association (February) and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (January). In 2011, Miracle Mile Shops raised a total of $100,000 for numerous local and national non-profit organizations and aims to surpass that number in 2012.

The vision of the Women’s Leadership Council is to strengthen the social landscape by engaging women leaders to inspire others to take action, creating long-lasting change in the community through education, access to healthcare and financial stability. This influential group, led by volunteer co-chairwomen Cindy Brinker and Deb Mele-Blanchard, is forging the way to a better future through their fits of time, leadership and financial support. The intent is to bring local philanthropic women to the front lines to address the community’s most pressing needs.
