Honor of “Teach Children To Save Day” on April 12 United Way of Southern Nevada Helps Elementary Students Develop Lifelong Saving Habits

In celebration of “Teach Children To Save Day” on April 12, United Way of Southern Nevada is partnering with the Nevada Bankers Association and Clark County School Districts to teach elementary students financial responsibility and the importance of developing savings habits from April 11- 29. Aligned with United Way’s core principal of providing lasting change through financial stability, nearly 140 classes will be held at schools across the Valley reaching 7,500 students.

“To be part of a program that educates southern Nevadan’s youth on financial stability is an important initiative for United Way,” said Cass Palmer, president and CEO of United Way of Southern Nevada. “These classes will help younger generations see the importance of saving and the need for applying their money towards paying for emergency situations or for college, which will assist them in securing a financially stable future.”

Volunteer instructors from eight banks, in connection with Nevada Bankers Association will teach a 45 minute class to students and offer tips on the importance of saving money for a rainy day.

“We are excited to continue our efforts to teach students about responsibility with finances, in hopes of providing them with the tools and skills needed to make smarter decisions,” said William Uffelman, president and CEO of the Nevada Bankers Association. “The classes help the students see firsthand how saving money can create a sound future.”

Upcoming Efforts to Benefit Japan Society and AFAN

Each year TAO Group opens the doors to millions of guests in Las Vegas and New York City. Venues including TAO Asian Bistro, Nightclub and Beach, LAVO Italian Restaurant and Nightclub, and Marquee Nightclub and Dayclub have provided customers with incredible dining and nightlife experiences. Such success has afforded the company, their employees and valued customers an opportunity to give back to those in need and inspired the creation of TAO CARES. TAO CARES, the charitable arm of TAO Group, supports local charitable organizations as well as national and international programs that benefit causes near and dear to the employees and ownership of the company.

TAO CARES will raise funds through unique offerings, as well as devote significant efforts to support selected causes. One of the first endeavors of TAO CARES will benefit the Japan Society’s Earthquake Relief Fund, a disaster relief fund to aid victims of the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean earthquake in Japan. One hundred percent of donations will go directly to Japan, contributing to the relief and recovery effort. Guests can participate in helping to raise funds by ordering special menu and drink items at the restaurants and nightclubs between April 3 and April 9. TAO Asian Bistro is featuring offerings including Water Flow Jozen Junami Ginjo Sake, a Spicy King Crab and Avocado Roll and Kobe Beef Tenderloin, while LAVO Italian Restaurant serves up the Lavolini specialty cocktail, Kobe Beef Carpaccio and King Salmon. 100 percent of sales from those items, along with a special Red Sun shot, will be contributed to the Japan Society. Two dollars from every paid guest through the doors at TAO Nightclub, TAO Beach, LAVO Nightclub and Marquee Nightclub will also be donated. The Hollywood hottie dined on tuna sliders, New York strip steak and Pacific salmon, and sipped on Sugar Factory’s signature Lollipop Passion cocktail. Smart, who was looked to-die-for in a green minidress, flashed her gorgeous smile and was delighted when the eatery presented her with a hand-crafted birthday cake for her special day.

After dinner, the blonde birthday bombshell browsed Sugar Factory’s retail store, picking up sweet treats including the sweet shop’s signature Couture Pops, gummy bears, chocolate-covered pretzels and tons of T-shirts and tank tops from the apparel line.

Details: The open call is part of a national search to find performers who possess the rare combination of talents that qualifies them to portray Blue Men. Both male and female performers are encouraged to audition for Blue Man Group. Some of the basic criteria for Blue Man auditioners include:

World-renowned photographer to open Jeff Mitchum Gallery at Bellagio

Jeff Mitchum Gallery Set to Open April 3 at Bellagio World-Renowned Photographer to Put Nature on Display

When Jeff Mitchum Gallery opens its doors on April 2, visitors to Bellagio will be able to experience a virtual tour of the world through the renowned nature photographer’s vivid and awe-inspiring images.

The new gallery, Mitchum’s first in Las Vegas, will feature an eclectic collection of the fine art photographer’s most treasured images taken during his travels around the world. Nine of the limited-edition prints on display come from Mitchum’s “Israel Collection,” which showcases the stunning natural beauty of Israel’s dramatic landscapes, which he shot over a twenty four-year period.

“Israel is this amazing, beautiful place. It’s more than just a world heritage site – it’s a world heritage nation,” said Mitchum. “I was looking for my version of Ansel Adams’ Yosemite, but it wasn’t until I was shooting Israel for National Geographic that I realized it found me. I saw an opportunity to create fine art out of war.”

Mitchum’s passion extends to the conservation of our natural resources, which is evident in his unique line of eco-furniture designs also available at his new gallery. The collection features sustainable, artistic and comfortable pieces handcrafted from infertile palm trees harvested from abandoned plantations, whose clearing makes way for critically needed food crops.

Mitchum’s personal influences also will be an integral part of this one-of-a-kind gallery. On display are such artifacts as one of Sierra Club founder John Muir’s original manuscripts, as well as a pair of desert hiking boots that belonged to Ansel Adams, accompanied by a personal letter from Adams’ daughter.
