The Carroll Shelby Foundation has launched an initiative through Carroll Shelby’s Store to raise money for nurses on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic. A portion of the proceeds from the Shelby “We are Strong Together” t-shirt and decal will go to the Carroll Shelby Foundation to benefit the Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses. Founded by the American Nurses Association, this program provides direct financial assistance to nurses who contract the virus.

“Throughout his life, Carroll Shelby appreciated the many nurses who helped him recover from the injuries he endured as a driver and from two major organ transplants,” said Neil Cummings, Co-President of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “He credited much of his resiliency to their care. Today, nurses are giving the same great care to those battling COVID-19. So the Carroll Shelby Foundation and Carroll Shelby’s Store joined forces to benefit a fund that will support them.”

Macy’s will open its first Las Vegas Area Backstage store on Saturday, June 2nd



Macy’s will open its first off price retail experiences, Macy’s Backstage, at the Macy’s location in Meadows Mall, Nev., on Saturday, June 2 and additional locations in Meadowood Mall, Shops at Summerlin Centre, Galleria at Sunset and Las Vegas home store will open later in the fall of 2018. The Meadows Mall opening will mark the introduction of Macy’s off price shopping format to Nevada. Macy’s Backstage provides a store-within-store shopping experience featuring significant savings on fabulous finds. The new outlet store will have approximately 15,800 sqft of dedicated retail space inside the Macy’s location.

Wienerschnitzel, the world’s largest hot dog chain, created its first-ever Wiener Index to uncover the latest consumer trends in the fast food space  Below is a taste of the juicy tidbits found by the Wiener Index:

  • Crazy for Dogs: One hot dog isn’t enough. On average, Americans think they could eat three hot dogs in one sitting and nearly half (48 percent) believe they could eat three or more.
  • Doggone Good: When it comes to toppings besides ketchup and mustard, Americans favorite hot dog toppings are chili (25 percent), onions (21 percent) and relish (20 percent).
  • What’s in a Name? Americans’ top nickname for a hot dog varies, with “Dog” (39 percent), followed by “Wiener” (29 percent), “Frank” (23 percent) and “Sausage” (9 percent).

Not only is the “World’s Most Wanted Wiener” releasing its first annual Wiener Index, but the iconic chain is shaking things up and is permanently adding Schnitzel to their menu.

Las Vegas’ Evel Pie Joins Pizzerias Around the United States to Fight Child Hunger

Evel Pie is joining more than 70 pizzerias across the U.S. in fighting child hunger. Participating pizzerias each feature a specialty pizza and donate $1 to No Kid Hungry for every featured pizza sold during May, 2017. The campaign is called “Slice Out Special” and is produced by a NYC-based nonprofit called Slice Out Hunger, which supports hunger relief and prevention organizations through the American pizza community. The Shrunken Head Of Norm Clarke Unveiled at The Golden Tiki

The Golden Tiki added to its Cabinet of Curiosities Thursday night by unveiling Norm Clarke’s shrunken head. Managing Partner Branden Powers and Tony Felicetta of The Sharps were on hand to present the honor to the former Las Vegas Review-Journal gossip columnist.

“Branden’s been a longtime friend of mine. I’ve supported him over the years, and he’s supported my column,” said Clarke. “I’m really honored to be among the little head crowd now at The Golden Tiki.”

High Horse, a new hospitality collective based in Las Vegas, continues to build on the success of its first concept, The Golden Tiki, with the announcement of its new restaurant opening, called Evel Pie.




Set to open in October 2016 in the East Fremont Entertainment District, Evel Pie will pay tribute to legendary motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel while serving delicious New York-style pizza by the slice and baked-to-order pies in a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Operated in cooperation with Evel’s son Kelly, guests can expect classic pizza flavors and toppings alongside an unapologetic selection of cheap drinks, craft beers and favorite American backyard beers, including Hamm’s, Schlitz and Coors.

“Evel was the founding father and the catalyst of modern day extreme sports,” said High Horse co-founder and creative director Branden Powers, whose family owned a chain of pizza shops in the 70s. “He inspired a generation of kids to jump over their neighbors using makeshift ramps. His historic jump over the Caesars Palace fountains solidified him as a Vegas icon, and with the 50th anniversary of that jump coming up in 2017, we wanted to make sure Evel has a slice of Vegas history.”

Guests can expect the unexpected as soon as they walk in the doors, as they’re transported into a 1979 pizza shop with a few modern touches. Inspired by the motto “Live hard, ride fast, eat pizza,” Evel Pie’s design will be overseen by Powers and designer Lieuchi Fine, with the interior featuring pinball machines, Evel memorabilia, Schwinn Stingray bicycles, dogtown skateboards, a bronze statue of Evel himself and a few surprises for which Powers is known. Music will feature 70s rock, new wave and the roots of hip hop and punk, including Boston, Black Sabbath, Blondie, The Ramones, Beastie Boys and A Tribe Called Quest.
