Families made a big splash this morning at Cowabunga Bay and Cowabunga Canyon during the 16th Annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL) — a global initiative aimed at spreading the lifesaving message that Swimming Lessons Save Lives™.
Hundreds of kids and parents gathered at both Las Vegas-area waterparks for a fun, free, and educational swim lesson led by certified instructors following World Waterpark Association safety standards. The event was part of a synchronized global effort involving waterparks, pools, and swim schools in over 20 countries, all teaching swim basics simultaneously.
The event kicked off with on-site registration at 9:00 AM, followed by a group swim lesson from 9:30–10:30 AM. Each child participant received a certificate, a free same-day admission, and a free return ticket to keep the water safety conversation going all summer long.
Why It Matters:
Drowning remains the second leading cause of accidental death for children aged 1–14. Formal swimming lessons have been shown to reduce the risk by up to 88%. Cowabunga’s participation in WLSL reinforces its commitment to keeping local families safe while encouraging active, outdoor fun.
