The UNLV track & field program will close out the regular season with a trip to Flagstaff, Arizona for the NAU Tune Up hosted by Northern Arizona University at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome Friday, February 17.

The one-day contest will feature teams from across California and Arizona, with the Scarlet & Gray being the lone Mountain West representative.

Action will begin Friday at 1 p.m. (PT) with the women’s long jump and women’s weight throw, followed by the women’s triple jump at 4 p.m. (PT). Prelims for the women’s 60m hurdles will kick off at 3:30 p.m. (PT), with the remaining running events set to follow after.

MOUNTAIN WEST RANKINGS: UNLV has a total of six student-athletes ranked in the top 20 for six events in the Mountain West standings. Sophomore Rosa Santana leads the conference in the women’s shot put with a program best mark of 17.93m. Sophomores AnnaKay Maitland and Kennedi Porter sit fifth and sixth in the women’s 60m dash with times of 7.45 and 7.48, respectively. The sophomore duo also rank in the top 10 for the 200m run, Porter holds eighth (24.16) while Maitland sits 10th (24.20). Junior Taylor Shorter ranks 11th in the women’s 60m hurdles (8.81), sophomore Erin Thompson ranks sixth in the women’s high jump with a mark of 1.68m and sophomore Madelyn Wattles holds 19th in the women’s weight throw (14.86m).

LAST TIME OUT: The Scarlet & Gray participated in the Don Kirby Elite Invitational where Santana broke her own program record in the women’s shot put with a mark of 17.93m. Sophomore Natalia Ruiz placed fourth in the women’s mile with a time of 5:00.86 while senior LaKyla Yazzie finished with a time of 5:17.88. Shorter finished with a personal best in the women’s 60m hurdles with a time of 8.81 and following was freshman Ella Hagman and Noelani Mendoza with times of 9.20 and 10.06, respectively. Sophomore Aitza Romero ran a personal best in the women’s 800m with a time of 2:27.49.
