Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum Announces Inspiring June Events

The Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum is set for an exciting collection of events this June, including a free family art day; two distinct yoga experiences designed for all levels.; a new movement series for all ages; and an immersive sound bath.

On Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the museum will once again partner with Vegas Kids Zone for a free First Saturday, a day filled with creativity, exploration, and fun. Thanks to Vegas Kids Zone, the first 30 guests will receive a free art kit to take home. This event invites individuals from all over the Las Vegas Valley to explore the museum’s diverse collection, engage with art through interactive activities, and enjoy a day of shared creativity. Admission is free, but tickets must be reserved here.

On Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to noon, the museum will host Sweet Flow Yoga, led by the esteemed Nicole Scheerer, founder of The Sunshine Den. This gentle, breath-centered practice is designed to soothe the body, calm the mind, and uplift the spirit, blending slow, flowing movements with mindful pauses. Perfect for all levels, it’s an ideal way to increase flexibility, unwind, reconnect, and restore balance from the inside out. Nicole, a certified yoga instructor, reiki master, and theta practitioner with over 20 years of experience, focuses on strengthening the mind-body connection and promoting overall relaxation. Classes are accessible and beneficial for everyone, incorporating slow, controlled movements with plenty of modifications. Attendees should bring a yoga mat, blanket, water bottle, and any other supports needed. Tickets are $30 and are available for purchase here.

On Sunday, June 8, from 1 to 2 p.m., the museum welcomes back Maureen Heher Karaffa for a gentle yet invigorating yoga class for seniors. This hour-long session focuses on stretching and movement to honor the body through improved balance, strength, and flexibility; the mind by reducing anxiety and stress; and the spirit through feelings of tranquility. Maureen Heher Karaffa, a native Nevadan, has taught yoga and healing arts in Las Vegas for over four decades. Chairs will be available to accommodate seated movements for those who prefer this experience. Participants should bring a yoga mat, blanket, water bottle, and any additional supports needed. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.

On Saturday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., also in collaboration with Nicola Lea Kilyushik, the museum will introduce a new movement series, “Moving Meditation: Introduction to Qi Gong & Tai Chi.” Qigong is an ancient practice that focuses on cultivating and circulating vital energy (qi) throughout the body. At the same time, tai chi emphasizes a series or “dance” of coordinated movements sometimes referred to as “forms.” Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Participants should bring water, a yoga mat and any additional supports needed. This session is open to all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. Tickets are $30 per session and are available for purchase here.

On Sunday, June 29, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., the museum will host an immersive Sound Bath session led by sound healing expert Terry Mahoney. The session will envelop participants in soothing, restorative vibrations. Guests are encouraged to bring water, yoga mats, blankets, and pillows to enhance their comfort during the experience. Tickets are $30 per session and are available for purchase here.
