Off to its best start in Mountain West play in 12 years, the UNLV men’s basketball team will head north to Reno to face UNR at Lawlor Events Center on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. The game is part of the Silver State Series presented by IBEW and Nevada Donor Network, which UNLV currently leads 9-3 (2019-20 season scoring).

The Runnin’ Rebels (11-9, 6-1) have won three straight games and seven of their last eight. UNLV swept its two-game homestand last week with wins over San Jose State (98-87) and New Mexico (99-78). Sophomore guard Marvin Coleman was named this week’s MW Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 17 points vs. the Spartans, then recording the program’s first triple-double in 20 years with 11 points, a career-high 12 rebounds and a career-high 11 assists against the Lobos. He also had a career-high six steals. Sophomore guard Bryce Hamilton also had a noteworthy performance vs. the Lobos, scoring a career-high 35 points – the most for a Runnin’ Rebel in four years.

Junior guard Amauri Hardy leads four UNLV players averaging in double-figure scoring this season with 14.8 points per game (10th in MW), while junior forward Mbacke Diong is the team’s leading rebounder with 9.0 per contest (5th in MW). UNLV is under new leadership this year in head coach T.J. Otzelberger.

UNR (11-8, 4-3) is also in its first year under its head coach, Steve Alford. The Wolf Pack have lost three of their last four games (all three losses on the road), but have won five straight at home. Jalen Harris leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 18.4 ppg and 6.3 rpg, respectively.

Wednesday’s game will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network with John Sadak and Chris Walker calling the action. Jon Sandler, former Runnin’ Rebel Curtis Terry and Steve Cofield (sideline reporter) will handle the UNLV radio call, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 in Las Vegas and online via the UNLVGameday App and TuneIn.
