April 18 Spring Fashion Show benefits Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) of Southern Nevada

The Clark County Medical Society Alliance (CCMSA) is hosting its annual fundraising fashion show event on April 18 at the Four Seasons Hotel & Resort, Las Vegas. This year’s fashion show benefits TIP (Trauma Intervention Program) of Southern Nevada and will be produced by Balmain, a luxury fashion designer with more than 50 stores worldwide, including one in Las Vegas at Wynn.

More than 70% of U.S. adults have experienced some form of trauma in their lifetime, according to the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. TIP is a Las Vegas-based nonprofit that dispatches well-trained citizen volunteers to emergency scenes for emotional and practical support to family members, bystanders or witnesses. TIP volunteers have offered support at tragic events such as the UNLV and Route 91 Harvest Music Festival shootings.

“TIP volunteers have served us in our worst moments. We want to bring this group some much-needed attention because they offer a critical service and work behind the scenes. Many people may not even know about them,” CCMSA Co-president, Katie Baird, said.

Elizabeth Jeser, CCMSA co-president, is a TIP volunteer. She says the work allows her to offer a different kind of care she couldn’t in her former career as an emergency room nurse.

“I went into healthcare to help people and to sit and hold hands with a patient and be with them was something I really couldn’t do in the past,” Jeser added. “The TIP role allows me to be there with people, be compassionate, kind, and in service, on what is probably the worst day of someone’s life.”

Over the past 21 years, CCMSA has raised more than $3 million for Las Vegas nonprofits supporting healthcare needs in Southern Nevada.

Both Baird and Jeser, who also work in real estate, have spouses who are physicians.

CCMSA is seeking sponsors, donor services, silent auction items and other support for this year’s event. To learn more, visit ccmsa-lv.org.
