The Taco Stand Takes on Las Vegas
Southern California-grown taqueria brings a taste of Tijuana to Chinatown
San Diego’s staple taqueria, The Taco Stand, will open its first Las Vegas location on June 15, adding to its four existing locations in San Diego, one in Orange County and one in Miami to date. Best known for slinging authentic, Tijuana-style tacos, this family-owned taco haven is a welcome addition to the Las Vegas culinary scene. Housed in a 1,778 square-foot space along Spring Mountain Road in Chinatown, the new outpost will feature the same popular menu items showcased at its other locations.

Co-Owners Julian Hakim and Aram Baloyan are well-versed in what it takes to deliver authentic Mexican food. Both originally from Tijuana, the two restaurateurs grew up eating at a dozen local taco stands on a weekly basis, enjoying fresh grilled carne asada with spicy salsas on homemade tortillas. Hakim says, “In Tijuana, tacos were always the go-to option when someone wanted a quick, but well-made meal.” After moving to San Diego, they quickly realized that finding the type of tacos they grew up enjoying was a challenge that inspired the opening of their first San Diego location in 2013.
“We created The Taco Stand out of a personal need to enjoy a place that served delicious tacos in San Diego,” says Hakim. “It didn’t have to be anything fancy or flashy, just a fun spot to enjoy some awesome food. The model seems to have worked, and we’re thrilled by the response.”
Staying true to their vision, Hakim and Baloyan have maintained the same street taco stand vibe at all locations, now bringing those coveted taco creations to Las Vegas locals and visitors alike. Popular menu items include their specialty taco; Al Pastor, packed with rotisserie-marinated pork, cilantro, onions, cilantro sauce and pineapple, as well as their Nopal Taco, a vegetarian option crafted from flame-grilled cactus, melted cheese, cilantro sauce, tomato and avocado, both of which are served on made-to-order corn tortillas. Complete with a salsa bar brimming with daily-made salsas, there is a reason The Taco Stand continues to draw lines out-the-door on a daily basis.
