DONOVAN WILLIAMS TO TRANSFER TO UNLV MEN’S BASKETBALL PROGRAM
6-foot-6-inch guard from the University of Texas added to 2021-22 Runnin’ Rebel roster
The UNLV men’s basketball program has received a signed commitment from Donovan Williams to join the Runnin’ Rebels for the 2021-22 season, head coach Kevin Kruger announced Friday.
Williams is a transfer from the University of Texas with an expected three years of eligibility remaining. He is also expected to be immediately eligible to play at UNLV.
“We are extremely excited that Donovan has joined the Rebel family,” Kruger said. “His experience and daily approach the past few years will pay huge dividends for his growth and ability to help us reach our ultimate goals.”
A 6-foot-6-inch, 190-pound guard from Houston, Texas, Williams played the last two seasons for the Longhorns. He appeared in 41 games, including this year’s NCAA Tournament, and scored a season-high 11 points this past season vs. Oklahoma. He tallied a career-high 13 points twice during his freshman year and was named to the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Men’s Basketball Rookie Team. He was recently selected to the 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Second Team. He entered college as a four-star prospect and was ranked No. 61 overall in the country by Rivals.
Williams joins Royce Hamm Jr., also from the University of Texas, Victor Iwaukor from the University of Oklahoma and Jordan McCabe from West Virginia University as incoming transfers to the UNLV men’s basketball program.
