UNLV’S BRYCE HAMILTON NAMED PRESEASON ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST

UNLV men’s basketball senior guard Bryce Hamilton was selected to the 2021-22 Preseason All-Mountain West Team, the league announced Wednesday in conjunction with the start of virtual media days. In addition, UNLV freshman guard Keshon Gilbert was named the conference’s Preseason Freshman of the Year.
As selected by members of the media, the preseason team is made up of four juniors and a senior. Five of the seven preseason honorees earned all-Conference accolades at the end of 2020-21.
UNR junior Grant Sherfield was selected MW Preseason Player of the Year, while San Diego State senior Matt Bradley was named MW Preseason Newcomer of the Year.
Joining Hamilton on the preseason All-MW team are Colorado State’s David Roddy and Isaiah Stevens and Fresno State’s Orlando Robinson.
Hamilton, who initially declared for the 2021 NBA Draft, was a second-team All-MW honoree last season after averaging 17.9 points per game. He led the Runnin’ Rebels in scoring and ranked third in the MW. He also averaged 6.0 rebounds per game, ranking 10th in the league.
Gilbert, a true freshman, helped Vashon High School in St. Louis, Missouri, capture a state title last season. He averaged 13.2 points per game while shooting 55.5 percent from the field as a senior.

THE 2021-22 SEASON: This year marks the first for head coach Kevin Kruger leading the program. The team has a revamped roster with nine transfers, including four from the Big 12. The Runnin’ Rebels will open the campaign Nov. 10 against Gardner-Webb at the Thomas & Mack Center.
