DO & BE ARTS ACADEMY OF EXCELLENCE OFFICIALLY OPENS FOR THE UPCOMING 25/26 SCHOOL YEAR
New charter school opens enrollment for its first school year and hosts two info nights in June
Do & Be Arts Academy of Excellence (5355 Madre Mesa Drive, Las Vegas), a brand new, no-cost, independent charter school, officially welcomes kids in Las Vegas with the arrival of the 25/26 school year and is currently accepting enrollment of 222 students K-8 for its inaugural class. Interested parents and guardians are encouraged to submit their children’s applications now online or attend one of two informational sessions on Monday, June 9, or Tuesday, June 17, to learn about the academy, submit their enrollment, and tour the new school.
“With just a handful of arts-based learning institutions in the state, it became exceedingly important to offer our youngest creators, thinkers, and leaders in our community the opportunity to have a truly holistic arts-based approach to learning,” says Do & Be Arts Academy of Excellence Founder and Executive Director, Shambrion Treadwell. “It’s our goal to foster the creativity and critical thinking skills kids need to succeed to ‘Do & Be’ anything their young minds and hearts desire.”
The Do & Be Arts Academy of Excellence (DBAE) is rooted in academic proficiency, visual and performing arts, social and emotional skills, and project-based learning, using a holistic approach to provide a rigorous arts integration academic curriculum, empowering students to use their creativity to arrive at innovative solutions. The three pillars of DBAE academic success lie in the integration of art forms into traditional academic subjects to provide a more engaging and interactive learning experience, the opportunity and space for students to express their creativity, build confidence, and develop life-long communication skills through visual and performing arts, and a project-based learning approach where students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills, collaboration and problem solving.
Nothing is 2 small or 2 big to give 2 the DBAE class. Currently embarking on Operation 222, DBAE is accepting monetary donations to ensure a successful inaugural year. For instance, $2 provides a daily snack, $22 provides supplies or educational programs, $222 provides laptops or desks and chairs, and $2,222 provides classroom sponsorships or professional development for teachers. Donors can give back and find fundraisers online at www.dobeartsacademy.org. For those wishing to shop for a donation, the academy has an Amazon Wish List for supplies needed for the upcoming year. In addition, DBAE is accepting volunteers in various artistic disciplines to be featured artists on-site, lead workshops and special classes, and more.
