September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

Construction vs. Cancer Breaks Virtual Ground
Las Vegas Paving Helps Build Pediatric Cancer Patient Event

Known for large scale construction and heavy equipment, Las Vegas Paving has broken ground on a new child-friendly project designed to fire up the imaginations of pediatric cancer patients.

Nevada’s leading heavy construction firm is one of the founding sponsor of the valley’s first Construction vs Cancer event with the American Cancer Society. A website supporting the autumn event launched this month at www. constructionvscancer.org .

Created specifically for pediatric cancer patients, the inaugural event will give Las Vegas children an exclusive opportunity to operate heavy machinery, including back-hoes, diggers, excavators (with supervision). There will also be LVMPD patrol cars, and LVFD vehicles for up-close-and-personal experiences. The event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, October 7, at Symphony Park, 100 South City Parkway in Las Vegas.

“One of the best parts of our job is any time a child walks near one of our sites and looks with amazement at all the activity and equipment,” said Lori Mendenhall, of Las Vegas Paving. “We are delighted to participate in this inaugural event which will be a memorable experience for children and adults alike.”

Sponsors and ticketholders are “hard hats” for the day, helping operate heavy construction equipment at this family event. More than 1,000 big and little construction “operators” are expected to attend this unique fundraiser for The American Cancer Society.

Registration closes on September 30, 2017. For more information, please contact Patty Neese at [email protected], or 702.891.9021.
