The FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX is now accepting applications for marshal positions at the 2025 race in November, welcoming both experienced race marshals and individuals interested in becoming marshals to apply. Building on the success of last year, Las Vegas Grand Prix, in collaboration with U.S. Race Management (USRM), will continue its Locals’ Marshal Program in 2025. This pioneering initiative, a first of its kind for a U.S. Formula 1® race and since adopted by other domestic Grand Prix, expands opportunities for local residents interested in becoming marshals by offering pre-race certification. Applications are now open and will close on Monday, June 2.

Both experienced marshals interested in applying and Las Vegas-area residents interested in the Locals’ Marshal Program may find more information here.

“The inaugural Locals’ Marshal Program was an immense success, with 115 Nevada Residents serving as marshals at the 2024 race,” said Silvia Bellot, Vice President of Sporting and Race Operations at Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. “We are happy to see the program begin to be implemented at other F1 races in the United States and proud of the continued interest we have received from those who took part last year.”

2025 Locals’ Marshal Program

Returning for a second consecutive year, the 2025 Locals’ Marshal Program, held select weekends in September, will consist of informational sessions covering F1® basics, roles and responsibilities, flagging and communication procedures, track and fire safety, and vehicle recovery exercises. Southern Nevada residents without marshaling experience may register to receive more information on these informational sessions here. Those who complete the Locals’ Marshal Program may be eligible to be engaged as a marshal.

Interested individuals must attend one informational session date below:

  • Saturday, September 20 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 21 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 27 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

2025 Marshals Positions

Race marshals play a vital role in ensuring race safety and success, offering individuals the chance to become part of a passionate community, gain practical motorsport experience and contribute to the enduring legacy of Formula 1 in the United States.

U.S. Race Management and Las Vegas Grand Prix will oversee the selection process for the 600 marshal positions. All positions will be directed by U.S. Race Management and pursuant to the rules and regulations of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The services engaged to be performed are guided by competition regulations. The positions will include:

  • Flagging & Communication Marshals: Responsible for communicating track conditions using various flags—yellow, green, red, and blue—as well as safety car boards and light signals to Race Control via radio.
  • Intervention Marshals: Engaged to perform a crucial and highly visible role, assisting with clearing incidents on the racetrack, providing trackside support for drivers and fellow marshals, and supporting vehicle recovery. Must be able to carry a 20lb fire extinguisher, run long distances and feel comfortable on a hot track with cars and safety equipment.
  • Pit Lane and Grid Marshals: Engaged to facilitate a safe environment by assisting with pit lane and grid safety and discipline.
  • Marshal Support: Provide support services, including on hospitality, registration, equipment management and transport for other marshals.

In 2024, the Las Vegas Grand Prix saw nearly 3,200 total marshal applicants, 524 of which were accepted, 115 being residents of Nevada.

Selected marshals are required to serve throughout the entirety of the event from November 19 – 22 and will be contracted to fulfill these duties with compensation in the form of value-in-kind goods and/or services, to include a subsidy for the official marshal host hotel. International applicants must have valid U.S. work authorization. Full requirements and details may be found on the application website.

More opportunities to get involved in race weekend will be announced in the coming weeks. For more information on the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX, visit www.f1lasvegasgp.com.
