Distill To Celebrate A Birthday With A Fundraiser, To Benefit The Shade Tree
Party for a good event on August 4 with food, entertainment, raffles and community
Distill-Your Local Bar hosts Party for Goodat its 2945 S. Rainbow Blvd. location from 7 to 11 p.m. on August 4, to benefit The Shade Tree, a 24-hour accessible emergency shelter and resource center designed to specifically meet the needs of domestic violence and human trafficking survivors and their children.
Fox 5 Las Vegas three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist Jason Feinberg will emcee the event. Participants include Leadership Las Vegas, the Youth Ambassadors of Las Vegas, Trade & Fashion Academy, Miss Teen Nevada Earth, Miss Nevada Earth and Mrs. Nevada Earth. Las Vegas Metro Police Department and Highway Patrol will have Public Information Officers speaking about awareness, the fight against domestic violence, and the local fight against sex trafficking. Shiela Wright and dancers from Youth Ambassadors LV will kick off the event in song, along with other entertainment and community involvement.
The celebration and fundraiser is the idea of Joel Scott, a 17-year Las Vegas local. “Last year, for my 40th birthday, I was at home recovering from knee surgery, so that I couldn’t do anything. This year, I decided that I really wanted to kick off my 40s with a bang. To really kick it off, I figured a fundraiser benefit would be perfect,” says Joel.
He has always had a passion for being involved in the community for the common good. He recently finished a two-year volunteer service as a board member of the International Cultural Movement for Equality (ICME). He helped them kick off their Inaugural Henderson Pride Festival Event in 2021. Joel also serves as a volunteer advisory board member for a UNLV Continuing Education Program, Customer Experience Certification Program.
The Shade Tree serves many victims of domestic violence and/or human trafficking. The Shade Tree facility offers residential areas with sleeping rooms, libraries, training rooms, children’s activity center, meals, and laundry services. Additionally, it provides programs and services for its clients, including life skills, workforce readiness, health services, and housing assistance.
