FREEMAN HONORED AS MOUNTAIN WEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The redshirt senior’s 18 total blocks over the weekend earns her UNLV’s third Mountain West weekly honor of the season.

UNLV volleyball redshirt senior Jordyn Freeman was recognized by the Mountain West on Monday as part of the league’s Player of the Week series. Freeman was honored as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.
The Rebels went 2-0 last week in their matches, both on the road, overpowering both of their opponents with a 3-1 final score. UNLV fell in the first set for both of their series, but would sweep the next three to claim the win against New Mexico and Air Force. The Rebels now hold a 14-10 overall record with a 6-6 mark in Mountain West play.
Freeman, a middle blocker from San Diego, Calif., led the Rebels with back-to-back games of season-high totals in blocks. After reaching eight block assists in their win against the Falcons, she stepped up to help the team take revenge on the Lobos with tying her career-high in 10 total blocks. Freeman gathered nine block assists in the win over New Mexico, but also registered a solo block in the contest (her ninth of the season). Her strong presences on the front kept the Rebels opponents’ offenses at a minimum, holding Air Force to a .155 hitting percentage and New Mexico at a .104 rate in their matches.
Freeman also helped the offense with some impactful numbers in their latest wins, totaling 22 kills in the two matches combined over last weekend. The redshirt senior hit 11 each match, only totaling three errors to hit for a rate of .513.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will look to extend their two-game win streak next week as they kick off a four-game home stand, first taking on Fresno State in Cox Pavilion. That match will kick off at 6:30 p.m. PT on Thursday, Nov. 2 before facing off against UNR on Saturday, Nov. 4.
