HALBERSMA NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
UNLV women’s soccer senior Haley Halbersma was selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
A team captain from Coronado, California, Halbersma started all 19 games she appeared in, playing every minute she was available on the season. As a defender, she helped guide the Rebel backline to five shutouts on the year. Halbersma holds a 3.77 GPA and will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education this fall.
The 2023 Academic All-District Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom across four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must be a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.5 GPA and compete in 90 percent of the institution’s contests or start in at least 66 percent of those.
