HUSTLIN’ REBELS STAY ON THE ROAD FOR NEXT FIVE GAMES

The UNLV baseball team (5-8, 1-2 MW) will continue playing on the road for the next five games, beginning with a trip to Arkansas for a two-game, midweek series against the Razorbacks (13-2) set for Tuesday, March 14, with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. (PT). The Scarlet & Gray will conclude the series Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. (PT), before heading over to Reno to face UNR (8-7, 1-2 MW) for a three-game series against the in-state MW rivals slated to begin Friday evening at 6:35 p.m.
The Razorbacks come into the midweek affair after a 4-0 week, defeating Army, 7-5, Tuesday night before sweeping Louisiana Tech over the weekend by scores of 7-4, 6-1 and 15-6.
UNLV enters the midweek tilt after dropping a two-game series against Oklahoma (6-11, 7-8). The Rebels’ three-game series against Cal Poly scheduled for last week was canceled because of bad weather.
UNR comes into this weekend’s three-game series with a 2-2 record last week, defeating USC Wednesday evening, 3-2, but dropping two of three games to Fresno State in its conference-opening series (3-6, 5-2, 0-2). The Wolf Pack will play two games this week against No. 25 Oregon State Tuesday and Wednesday, before returning home to welcome the Hustlin’ Rebels.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
– The Scarlet & Gray and Arkansas have squared off a total of five times with the first-ever meeting taking place at Earl E. Wilson Stadium in 1994. The Rebels lead the all-time series 4-1. The last meeting took place in 2014, a series split (UNLV won 10-7, then the Razorbacks won 9-2).
– UNR and UNLV have met a total of 166 times with the first-ever meeting taking place back in 1968. The Hustlin’ Rebels own the advantage in the all-time series record, notching 91 wins to the Wolf Pack’s 75. UNR took last season’s series 2-1, (9-7 (10), 22-13, 8-9 (10)) before defeating UNLV in the Mountain West Tournament by a score of 7-3.
BACK AT THE EARL
UNLV will play California Baptist in Riverside Tuesday March 21, before returning home for a three-game Mountain West series against Fresno State set to begin Friday, March 24 at 6:05 p.m.

– Reese Lueck received the first weekly award for the Rebels, being named the Freshman of the Week following UNLV’s perfect opening weekend February 20.
