Runnin’ Rebel great Anthony Marshall has returned to the UNLV men’s basketball program as a graduate assistant, head coach Josh Pastner announced Thursday.

Marshall, who is a Las Vegas native and played in the program from 2009-13, becomes the third former Runnin’ Rebel to be hired by Pastner, joining assistant coach Justin Hawkins, who played at UNLV, also from 2009-13), and director of community engagement Stacey Augmon, who played for the Runnin’ Rebels from 1987-91.

“We are thrilled to have Anthony back at UNLV,” Pastner said. “It is vital for our program to be connected to its great history, and Anthony embodies the toughness, leadership, and winning mentality that we want to have. As a Las Vegas native who went to four straight NCAA Tournaments, his experience is an invaluable resource for our student-athletes as we continue to build our culture.”

Marshall earned Second-Team All-Mountain West honors as well as Mountain West All-Defensive Team recognition twice (2011-12 and 2012-13), and when he graduated, he was in the top 20 on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,280 career points. He also ranked seventh all-time in career assists with 514, leading the team in that category during the 2012-13 season with 203. Additionally, he was sixth all-time in career steals with 182.

Following graduation, Marshall played professionally overseas for five years. After retiring as a player, he has spent time as an individual skills development coach, an entrepreneur as a business owner, and has worked for the City of Las Vegas in its recreation department.

Marshall completes the program’s GA staff for the 2025-26 season, which also includes Daniel Allen, Aly Dhanani and Braden Parris.
