Communities in schools of Nevada
To support clark County teachers and students
This May, Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will partner with Communities In Schools of Nevada in support of Clark County teachers and students. All month long, all change tossed into the fountain and indoor rainstorm at Miracle Mile Shops will benefit Communities In Schools of Nevada as part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing community campaign
In addition, Miracle Mile Shops will extend dining and entertainment specials to Clark County School District teachers for the entire month of May. Eleven restaurants, including PBR Rock Bar & Grill, Lobster ME and Pampas Churrascaria Brazilian Grille, will provide special offers and discounts on entrées and dining bills, while “VEGAS! The Show” and “V The Ultimate Variety Show” will offer teachers a free general admission or VIP ticket with the purchase of a second ticket. To support Communities In Schools of Nevada’s mission of empowering students to stay in school so they can achieve in life, Miracle Mile Shops will welcome a group of high school students from the organization’s Fellows Program to the center for a job shadow event on Thursday, May 17. Students will be paired with Miracle Mile Shops’ management team and merchant executives to observe daily activities and learn about the business of running a major shopping center.
Communities In Schools of Nevada is the local affiliate of the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization and Nevada’s most effective intervention organization. The organization’s unique model places a coordinator inside schools to assess needs and deliver necessary resources that remove barriers to success. CISN serves the most dropout prone school districts in Southern and Northeastern Nevada, supporting nearly 22,500 students over 37 sites.
The partnership between Miracle Mile Shops and Communities In Schools of Nevada is part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing campaign, celebrating a year of change in 2012. In addition to monthly fountain fundraisers, the Caring, Giving, Changing campaign raises funds for programs and organizations through community sponsorships, additional partnerships and a number of cash and in-kind donations. In previous months the center has teamed up with Autism Speaks (April), National Multiple Sclerosis Society (March), American Heart Association (February) and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (January). In 2011, Miracle Mile Shops raised a total of $100,000 for numerous local and national non-profit organizations and aims to surpass that number in 2012.
