MULTIPURE INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH GIRL SCOUTS OF SOUTHERN NEVADA

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada and Multipure Create STEAM Patch with Learning Activity Led by Multipure Female Scientists

Multipure International, the Las Vegas-based manufacturer of top-rated water filters and purifiers, announces its official partnership with Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada with a STEAM-focused (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) program called “Water Exploration.”

Multipure is offering Girl Scouts (Juniors, Brownies and Cadettes) the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in the field of science and learn more about career opportunities in STEAM. The young Girl Scouts can earn their new STEAM patch after successfully participating in an interactive learning experience led by Multipure’s female scientists Juana Garcia, Microbiologist and Tam Quy, Laboratory Services Manager.

“It has been an overwhelming pleasure to work with Multipure in bringing the world of STEAM to our Girl Scouts and showing real-life scientific application through their labs to our future women scientists to be,” said Melody Trejo, Program Coordinator for Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. “We look forward to working further with Multipure through this partnership so as to provide these eye-opening opportunities to even more Girl Scouts in the future.”

During the two-hour program, Girl Scout members and their troop leaders will take part in activities in the Multipure chemistry and microbiology labs. There, they will test water samples for contaminants and fingerprints for bacteria so they may gain a greater understanding of drinking water science and the workings of laboratory testing and research as well as the day-to-day responsibilities of a scientist.

“This partnership marks a great milestone in inspiring young women to become future scientists, engineers, leaders and environmental stewards because having more females in these fields begins with young girls,” said Jennifer Rice, Executive Vice President of Multipure. “This fun and educational experience aligns with our mission of promoting healthy lives by improving the environment through education and community involvement.”

“Water Exploration” is currently part of the fall program and will be offered Tuesday, October 12, Thursday, October 14, Tuesday, November 16 and Thursday, November 18. All sessions are from 4-6pm.
