Bringing a fresh expression of wine country to the Mojave Desert, Charleston Peak Winery has officially opened its doors in Southern Nevada. Formerly known as Pahrump Valley Winery, the reimagined destination offers an immersive tasting experience of locally grown wines, panoramic mountain views and fare from the award-winning AMARI Italian Kitchen & Wine Shop in Las Vegas.
Located at 3810 Winery Rd. in Pahrump, Charleston Peak Winery spans nearly nine acres and marks a bold new chapter for Nevada viticulture through new ownership and a new winemaker. Steven Bowen, whose résumé includes acclaimed Napa Valley producers Jessup Cellars and Handwritten Wines, honors the legacy of Pahrump winemaking while pushing boundaries with small-batch craftsmanship and estate varietals shaped by the extremes of the desert climate.
The winery’s locally grown portfolio is made possible through its partnership with Bolton Vines, the vineyard management company led by Austin Bolton. Highlights include:
-
Symphony Peak – A crisp, floral white wine made from the Symphony grape, offering bright citrus notes and a clean finish.
-
Symphony Moon – An aromatic white with a slightly off-dry profile, featuring hints of tropical fruit and white flowers.
-
White Zinfandel Rosé – A vibrant and richly layered rosé, balancing red berry flavors with a refreshing, dry finish.
-
Amargosa Blend – A bold, full-bodied red blend with deep structure and notes of dark fruit, spice and toasted oak.
-
Estate Sparkling Wine – The first of its kind in Nevada, this méthode traditionnelle sparkler showcases bright fruit, fine bubbles and subtle minerality.
“Charleston Peak Winery is more than a destination; it’s a celebration of what’s possible in Nevada winemaking,” said Bowen. “We’re working with intense sun, rocky soil and limited diurnal shifts, which challenge us to be precise and inventive. Every bottle we produce tells the story of the land.”
Charleston Peak offers a selection of light fare curated by AMARI Italian Kitchen & Wine Shop, the winery’s acclaimed sister restaurant located at UnCommons in Las Vegas. Since opening in 2023, AMARI has been recognized with Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence for two consecutive years and was recently named one of the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Top 100 Restaurants. Guests can enjoy a thoughtful selection of savory favorites, including beef and pork meatballs, cheese and salumi boards with toasted focaccia and seasonal mostarda, as well as focaccia panini and classic cheese pizza with optional gourmet toppings like Calabrese or soppressata. Additional snacks, such as wine chips, cocktail nuts, Rogue jerky and wine-inspired popcorn are also available.
Customizable tastings include curated wine and chocolate pairings that spotlight unexpected flavor profiles, such as the Amargosa Blend, featuring a double dark ganache, and a floral Riesling paired with an Aleppo pepper and pineapple ganache. Every paid tasting includes a complimentary Charleston Peak Winery glass to take home. Wine Societies, Charleston Peak’s tiered wine club program, offers members 20 percent off all wines, plus 10 percent off food and merchandise, along with early access to new releases, exclusive wines and invitations to special events.
Charleston Peak’s newly redesigned tasting room blends rustic warmth with modern sophistication. The 1,450-square-foot space features natural wood finishes, contemporary furnishings and expansive windows that frame views of the surrounding peaks. With seating for 50 guests, the venue offers an intimate setting for personalized tastings and relaxed gatherings. Outside, vine-lined grounds and shaded patios extend toward the mountains, with plans underway for guided weekend tours and an on-site restaurant.
Along with AMARI, Charleston Peak Winery is also a sister entity to Storyhouse Spirits, a small-batch distillery based in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, known for its premium craft spirits.
Charleston Peak Winery is open for tastings from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Monday. For more information, visit www.charlestonpeakwinery.com, call (775) 751-7800, or follow @charlestonpeakwinery on Facebook and Instagram.
