Arcade Fire Thursday, April 14 at 8 p.m. (Special guest Local Natives) Tickets start at $40 SOLD OUT Arcade Fire makes a stop at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Thursday, April 14. The band recently won “Album of the Year” for their third album The Suburbs at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards.
Montreal’s Arcade Fire explored the theme of neighborhoods on their 2004 breakthrough album Funeral (chosen by Rolling Stone as the No. 1 album of the decade). In 2009, frontman Win Butler received an e-mail from an old friend he grew up with in the suburbs of Houston. At the same time, other band members of a similarly suburban origin across Canada had revisited their childhood environments and in some cases found there was not much left. Buildings were boarded up, if they still existed at all, new roads and rivers had magically appeared, altering the landscape that now only existed in faded photographs. When they reconvened, the first song they wrote was The Suburbs’ title track. As The Suburbs started to take shape, a cohesive group of songs emerged including themes of loss and renewal, drawing inspiration from scarcity, generations past and future, responsibility and maturity and hoping that something pure can last.
The Suburbs features more breadth and beauty than any previous Arcade Fire recording, including sparse pop (“Modern Man”), icy new wave epics (“No Celebration”), anthemic punk (“Month of May”), lush balladry (“Suburban War”), and hard-driving tracks such as “Empty Room” and “Ready to Start.”
The seven-piece band still believes that it takes a village to perform a song. There is plenty of room to breathe on any given track; tiny details are doled out bit by bit. That attention to detail and refusal to accept easy answers embodies much of what the Arcade Fire does. This fiercely independent band has faced pressure from every corner of the music industry and has carved out something beyond the grasps of the major label system with great success, a combination of Internet word-of-mouth and old-fashioned live show impressions.
The Moody Blues Friday, May 13 at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $39.50 On sale now
Rock icons The Moody Blues’ 2011 U.S. tour makes a stop at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, May 13. The band, whose legacy spans four decades of hit-making and sell-out tours, continues to entertain audiences with their timeless music.
The Moody Blues’ legendary hit “Nights In White Satin,” originally released in 1967 from their landmark Days Of Future Passed album, recently landed at No. 2 on the UK Rock Chart and at No. 27 on the BBC Radio 1 chart, marking the fourth time the single has charted in its more than 40-year history. The song’s resurgence ignited from a recent smash cover performance by Matt Cardle, current winner of Simon Cowell’s hit UK show “The X Factor.”
The Moody Blues have sold in excess of 70 million albums worldwide and have been awarded an astonishing 14 platinum and gold albums. Their incredible roster of hits includes “Nights In White Satin,” “Tuesday Afternoon,” “Ride My See Saw,” “The Story In Your Eyes,” “Isn’t Life Strange,” “Question,” “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band),” “Your Wildest Dreams,” and “I Know You’re Out There Somewhere,” to name a few. The Moody Blues have generated sold-out tours on a consistent basis over the course of several decades, making them one of the top-grossing album and tour bands in existence.
Guitarist/vocalist Justin Hayward, bassist/vocalist John Lodge and drummer Graeme Edge offer their fans a special opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with them on their exclusive Storytellers Experiences and Backstage Tours packages, which will be available for their show at The Joint.
The ultimate Moody Blues VIP experiences give fans the rare opportunity to join the rock legends pre-show, telling some of their wildest personal stories and recounting decades of international performances. The exclusive Storytellers Experiences will be available to purchase online at a first-come-first serve basis. Fans can also experience the Moody Blues’ Backstage Tour which includes a tour of the stage in which fans can meet some of the crew, see the band’s instruments and perhaps catch a glimpse of the band members themselves.

Deftones Saturday, June 11 at 8 p.m. (Special guests The Dillinger Escape Plan and Le Butcherettes) Tickets start at $30.50 On sale now After a sold out show with Alice in Chains in fall 2010, Deftones return to The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, June 11 with special guests The Dillinger Escape Plan and Le Butcherettes.
Deftones, one of the most enduring and influential forces in modern rock, released their latest album Diamond Eyes in May 2010. The sixth full-length studio effort by the Grammy-winning, platinum-certified group was produced and mixed by Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Coheed & Cambria, Foo Fighters). The band recorded the album after their best friend and bassist Chi Cheng sustained a debilitating brain injury from a car accident in November 2008. MySpace.com recently premiered a new video for lead single “Diamond Eyes,” which was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Roboshobo (Metallica, Mastodon, B-52’s).
As a band out of high school, Deftones mixed trip hop with thrash, melodic vocals with crushing reverb and pretty with ugly. As chart-toppers and headliners, they have crossed over genres and defied categorization. Above all, Deftones have stuck together throughout their often-turbulent tenure and now deliver one of the most compelling records of their career.
Critics, marketers and radio alike have struggled with where to place or how to define Deftones. The band has played with punk rockers L7, toured with Metallica and appealed to some of the same fan base as Morrissey and generally defied simple, and ultimately pointless genre classification.
