The UNLV volleyball team (18-3, 9-1 MW) will continue on the road this weekend with a match against Boise State (14-8, 6-5 MW) Thursday evening at 6 p.m. (PT) before heading over to Logan, Utah to take on Utah State (15-7, 7-4 MW) Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. (PT).

UNLV is coming off its fourth consecutive 2-0 weekend in conference play after defeating San Jose State in four sets Thursday night and dominating in-state rival UNR Saturday afternoon in four sets.

Boise State, who the Rebels defeated at home earlier this season in three sets, comes into the weekend 0-2 after falling to Wyoming in five sets, 3-2, Saturday afternoon and dropping the match against Utah State, 3-1, Tuesday evening.

Utah State, who fell to the Scarlet & Gray earlier this season in five sets, comes into the weekend with a 1-1 record in conference play. The Aggies fell to Colorado State Saturday afternoon in four sets, but took the win over the Broncos Tuesday evening in four sets.

ON THE SIDELINES
The Rebels will return to the friendly confines of Cox Pavilion next week to take on Air Force Thursday, November 3 at 6 p.m. and New Mexico November 5 at 1 p.m. This will be the second time UNLV will play against both programs this season.

REBELS CLAIM WEEKLY AWARDS
– Maya Sands received the first weekly award for the Scarlet & Gray (Sept. 19) earning both MW Freshman and Defensive Player of the Week after recording 55 digs, seven assists, five service aces, five points and three receptions to help the Rebels to a 2-1 weekend.
– Sands earned her second weekly honors of the season after being named Freshman of the Week again (Oct. 17) after helping the Rebels to its third consecutive 2-0 weekend in conference play.
– Junior Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos earned MW Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 3) after totaling 31 kills, 57 attacks, a .436 hitting percentage, 10 digs, 37 points, three blocks and three service aces during the Scarlet & Gray’s 2-0 weekend.
– Graduate student Ellese Crumpton earned MW Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 24) after totaling 24 kills, a hitting percentage of .455, 11 digs, 32.5 points, three solo blocks and two service aces during UNLV’s fourth consecutive 2-0 weekend in conference play.

LEADERS IN THE MW AND THE NATION
– UNLV currently ranks 36th in the NCAA for both assists per set (12.75) and in kills per set (13.78).
– The Rebels currently sit second in the conference for hitting percentage (.247), second in assists (12.75 per set), second in kills (13.78 per set) and sit third for digs with 14.47 per set.
– Graduate student Jhenna Gabriel leads in the conference and ranks 40th in the nation for assists with 10.42 per set.
– Redshirt-junior Isabel Martin ranks third in the MW for both kills per set with 3.80 and in points with 4.23 per set.
– Junior Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos sits fourth in the MW for both kills per set with 3.67 and ranks fifth in points per set with 4.04.
– Freshman Maya Sands currently sits third in the MW for digs per set with 3.90.
– Redshirt junior Jordyn Freeman sits sixth in the conference for hitting percentage with .333.
– Sophomore Dakota Quinlan ranks 10th in the conference for hitting percentage with .328.

OTHER NEWS & NOTES
– Dating back to 2019, UNLV has gone 75-15 in its last 90 matches. The Rebels have won 18 of 21 matches this season and 44 of its last 53.
– UNLV returned eight letterwinners this season. Also returning to the squad from last season were Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos, Arien Fafard, Jordyn Freeman, Chloe Thomas, Isha Knight, Keyana Cruse, Dakota Quinlan, Livvy Setla, Isabel Martin and Thea Sweder. There are eight newcomers, which include three freshmen, a trio of transfers and a pair of graduate transfers.
– UNLV is led by fifth-year head coach Dawn Sullivan, who looks to guide her squad to the postseason for the fifth straight season.
– Junior Arien Fafard had her 1,000th career assist during the opening weekend of the Rebels’ 2022 campaign at UNT.
– The Rebels defeated No. 19 Kansas on September 10, 2022, making that the second win over a ranked team since 2016. The first being then No. 25 Washington State during the fall 2021 season at the Rebel Challenge (Sept. 4, 2021).
– Head Coach Dawn Sullivan notched 100 wins during the match against then MW leaders San Jose State, 3-1.

All high school, middle school and elementary students are free under UNLV’s new admission policy. To receive free admission, high school students must present valid Nevada are school I.D. at the box office on gameday for one (1) complimentary ticket. Current UNLV students will receive free admission with a valid school I.D. All other students will receive a complimentary ticket at the box office (no I.D. required). Kids not yet elementary school age will continue to receive free admission for all UNLV Olympic sports.
